We are partnering with a fast growing technology company that has built strong commercial traction and is entering a significant period of expansion.
The business has an established product, strong financial backing and ambitious plans for the next stage of growth. They are continuing to invest heavily in technology and are now adding to a small, experienced Data Science team.
About the role
This is a hands on Senior Data Scientist position where you will work on technically challenging problems that sit at the core of the company’s product.
You will be working on machine learning and statistical systems that are already used in production, rather than isolated research or analytics projects.
There is a strong technical foundation in place, but plenty still needs to be improved and developed as the company scales. You will have the opportunity to question existing approaches, develop new ones and influence how Data Science problems are solved across the business.
You will have meaningful technical ownership and the opportunity to see your work move from initial idea through to production and measurable product impact.
This is a role for someone who enjoys difficult applied Data Science problems, strong technical ownership and building systems that are actually used.
What you’ll do
• Develop and improve machine learning and statistical models used within the core product.
• Take ownership of complex Data Science problems from initial investigation through to production.
• Work with large, imperfect real world datasets and develop robust approaches around them.
• Evaluate existing approaches, identify weaknesses and develop better solutions.
• Build reliable ways of testing and measuring model performance.
• Monitor production systems and investigate changes in performance.
• Work closely with Engineering and other teams to turn technical work into product improvements.
What you’ll bring
• Strong experience in Data Science, Machine Learning or a closely related quantitative field.
• Experience building models that have been deployed and used in production.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Strong mathematical and statistical foundations.
• Experience working with complex real world datasets.
• Good software engineering practices and confidence writing production quality code.
• MSc, PhD or equivalent depth of experience in a quantitative discipline.
• The ability to solve difficult problems without unnecessarily overcomplicating them.
