Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer with a focus on aerospace manufacturing to join our dynamic team.The Quality Engineer is an integral part of ERG’s Quality Team as well as ERG overall. The QSE works closely with the Engineering and Operations Teams to ensure that ERG product is manufactured to the highest quality standards. The Quality Systems Engineer develops quality systems in adherence to International QMS Standard ISO 9001:2015 & AS9100; responsible for drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); oversees the dispositioning of product nonconformances; performs root cause analysis investigations to identify and improve system and product deficiencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

· Seeks methods for improvement of the QMS for improved compliance to applicable standards.

· Provides post project summaries to the Quality Manager and Facility Director that include statistical analysis/feedback/summary of event of what occurred during the project.

· Helps manage and pursue completion of Change Request with interested parties.

· Helps coordinate and conduct Corrective Actions and assigned improvement projects through the pursuit and completion of Root Cause Analysis.

· Interprets test and inspection results and relays them to Quality Manager, Production Manager/Facility Director.

· Manages document control, coordinates approvals and releases to the QMS.

· Completes process and area audits for compliance to SOPs, work instructions, and procedures.

· Follows ISO 9001:2015/AS9100 Rev D standards and promotes compliance to the standard.

· Evaluates engineering drawings to determine inspection feasibility and plans.

· Compiles and releases First Article Inspection Reports.

· Reviews customer orders, drawings, and manufacturing plans to ensure parts will meet customer requirements.

· Supports Manufacturing Engineering in the creation of programs for computerized inspection equipment (e.g. optical comparators)

· Identifies nonconformance trends and other product quality opportunities for improvement

· Assists in the development and implementation of improved inspection methods.

· Develop Quality Systems throughout the manufacturing processes in adherence to AS9100.

· Helps develop Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.

· Performs Internal Audits.

· Reviews and approves Engineering Change Notifications.

· Applies statistical tools as needed in support of investigations and continuous improvement efforts.

· Provides functional direction and oversight to Quality Technicians, Inspectors and Specialists.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

· BS/BA in technical field, engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.

· Minimum 3 years of experience in a regulated industry environment within a Manufacturing or Quality department. Prior experience in a quality engineering role preferred.

· Must have relevant experience in an aerospace environment.

· Must have or be able to obtain ISO 9001:2015/AS9100 Internal Auditor certification.

· Certifications preferred include ASQ certified technician or inspector, CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing a plus.

· Strong understanding of product quality lifecycle.

· Experience interpreting drawings including introductory knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) required.

· Experience with contract review, inspection planning and surface plate technique experience.

· Familiarity or experience with CMM programming a plus.

· Familiarity with AS9145 standards a plus.

· Root Cause Failure Analysis training.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The essential functions of the position may require frequent sitting, standing, walking, repetitive use of both hands and finger dexterity with both hands, near/far visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision, accommodation and color vision, lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds; occasional walking, and bending; working in a loud production environment without temperature controls, wearing PPE (including respirator masks and hoods), reaching overhead: seldom driving a vehicle.

MENTAL DEMANDS

The essential functions of the position require the ability to read and write complex material, perform simple and complex math calculations, and the ability to perform simple and complex tasks; perform clerical functions, compile and analyze information; coordinate activities, follow instructions and workplace rules, influence others, meet time requirements, memorization, problem solving through use of independent judgment and decision-making skills, maintain sensitive and confidential information.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
