Job Title: Data Test Engineer (Java | Software Testing | AWS)
Location: Chicago, IL / Peoria, IL | Hybrid (2-3days/ week onsite) | Local candidates preferred
Contract: 12 Months Contract
Pay Rate: $29.00 per hour on W2
What you’ll do:
- Create and execute test cases to validate data quality standards and business rules.
- Support daily testing activities across data pipelines and platform operations.
- Perform defect identification, root cause analysis, and fix validation.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Stewards to improve data quality and reduce production risk.
- Participate in feature testing and UAT activities
Typical Day-to-Day:
- Test design and execution
- Defect identification and validation
- Root cause analysis and process improvement
- Close collaboration with Data Engineering and Data Stewards
Required Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in software testing and/or software development (High school diploma required; Associate's/Bachelor's preferred but not mandatory)
- Java (hands-on development, debugging, OOP concepts — this is our #1 requirement)
- Software testing and/or software development experience.
- Basic SQL / database knowledge.
Strongly Preferred:
- Spring Boot
- AWS (Azure or other cloud platforms also acceptable)
- Data testing experience and root cause analysis
Nice to Have:
- Snowflake
- Data quality monitoring tools
- Data pipeline experience
