Role Summary

We are seeking an Intermediate Communications Specialist to provide professional communications services in support of Court Technology Services (CTS).

The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director, CTS leadership, project teams, and stakeholders to develop and deliver clear, consistent, timely, and audience-appropriate communications supporting organizational change, executive messaging, employee engagement, technology initiatives, and strategic priorities.

The role requires strong business writing, editing, presentation development, communication planning, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate complex technical and business information into concise communications.

Key Responsibilities

- Executive & Organizational Communications

- Develop executive communications on behalf of the Executive Director.

- Prepare branch updates, organizational announcements, leadership messages, and employee communications.

- Prepare monthly CTS Branch communications using information provided by the Executive Director and CTS leadership.

- Develop communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.

- Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, timely, and aligned with Alberta Courts standards.

- Communication Strategy & Planning

- Develop effective communication strategies and communication plans.

- Support organizational transformation and technology initiatives through strategic communications.

- Develop communication approaches aligned with stakeholder needs and business objectives.

- Provide communications advice and recommendations to CTS leadership.

- Support employee engagement and change communications for organizational initiatives.

- Communication Products & Content Development

- Create professional communication products, including:

- Executive presentations

- Executive briefing notes

- Speaking notes

- Newsletters

- FAQs

- Infographics

- Visual communication materials

- Organizational announcements

- Develop professional presentations and supporting materials for senior leadership.

- Translate complex business and technical information into clear, concise, audience-appropriate communications.

- Apply strong business writing and editing practices to all communication products.

- Presentation & Visual Communications

- Develop presentations for:

- Executive meetings

- Leadership forums

- Town halls

- Stakeholder engagement sessions

- Use advanced Microsoft PowerPoint capabilities to create professional presentations.

- Develop branding and visual identity for CTS initiatives.

- Maintain consistency across communication products and visual materials.

- Develop templates, infographics, and other visual communication products where required.

- Operational & Technology Communications

- Review existing operational communications and recommend improvements.

- Develop and improve communications related to:

- Service outages

- Planned maintenance

- Technology service disruptions

- Incidents

- Service changes

- Improve readability, consistency, effectiveness, and overall customer experience.

- Develop standardized templates and guidance for operational and executive communications.

- Stakeholder Engagement

- Collaborate directly with executives, senior leaders, managers, subject matter experts, and project teams.

- Gather information and requirements for communication products.

- Provide professional communications advice to stakeholders.

- Develop messaging appropriate for different audiences and stakeholder groups.

- Support stakeholder engagement activities and strategic communication initiatives.

- Editing & Quality Assurance

- Review, edit, and provide quality assurance for communications prepared by project teams and leadership.

- Evaluate existing communications for:

- Clarity

- Consistency

- Effectiveness

- Audience suitability

- Readability

- Recommend and implement improvements where required.

- Ensure communication products are accurate, professional, and aligned with organizational standards.

- Change Management & Transformation Communications

- Support organizational change initiatives through employee engagement and communications.

- Develop communications supporting transformation, restructuring, technology initiatives, and other significant organizational changes.

- Ensure stakeholders receive timely and relevant information throughout change initiatives.

- Experience working within government, broader public sector, courts, justice, or other complex regulated organizations.

- Experience supporting organizational transformation, change management, restructuring, or significant organizational change initiatives.

- Experience using SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, or other digital platforms to publish or manage organizational communications.
