We are seeking an immediate Intermediate Communications Specialist for the Government of Alberta Court Technology Services (CTS) in a fully onsite role in Edmonton, Alberta. This position will develop and implement communication plans, executive/leadership messages, employee communications, organizational announcements, newsletters, briefing materials, presentations, and visual communication products. The ideal candidate will bring strong professional business writing, editing, and translation skills, advanced Microsoft PowerPoint expertise, experience working directly with executives and senior leaders, and the ability to review, improve, and standardize operational and executive communications across a complex regulated organization.

About The Role

The Intermediate Communications Specialist will provide professional communications services in support of Court Technology Services (CTS) within Alberta Courts. The role works closely with the Executive Director, CTS leadership, project teams, and stakeholders to develop and deliver communications that support organizational change, executive messaging, employee engagement, and strategic initiatives.

The successful candidate will develop communication strategies and products that effectively communicate to internal and external stakeholders while ensuring messaging is clear, consistent, timely, and aligned with Alberta Courts standards.

Key Responsibilities

Executive and Organizational Communications

- Develop executive communications on behalf of the Executive Director, including:

- Branch updates.

- Organizational announcements.

- Leadership messages.

- Employee communications.

- Prepare monthly CTS Branch communications based on information from the Executive Director and CTS leadership.

- Create professional communication products including:

- Presentations.

- Executive briefing notes.

- Speaking notes.

- Newsletters.

- FAQs.

- Infographics.

- Visual communication materials.

Communication Strategy and Planning

- Develop communication strategies and communication plans supporting:

- Organizational transformation.

- Technology initiatives.

- Change management.

- Employee engagement.

- Provide communications advice and recommendations to CTS leadership regarding communication approaches and stakeholder messaging.

- Ensure all communication products align with:

- Alberta Courts communication standards.

- Visual identity requirements.

- Plain language principles.

Content Development and Translation

- Translate complex business and technical information into clear, concise, audience-appropriate communications.

- Review, edit, and provide quality assurance for communications prepared by project teams and leadership.

- Review existing operational communications, including:

- Service outage notifications.

- Maintenance notifications.

- Incident communications.

- Recommend improvements to readability, consistency, effectiveness, and customer experience.

- Develop standardized communication templates and guidance for operational and executive communications.

Branding and Visual Communications

- Develop branding and visual identity for CTS initiatives.

- Ensure consistency across communication products.

- Create professional presentations and visual communication materials for senior leadership and organizational audiences.

- Use advanced Microsoft PowerPoint for executive and leadership presentations.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Engagement

- Collaborate with:

- Executives.

- Managers.

- Subject matter experts.

- Project teams.

- Gather information and prepare communication materials.

- Develop presentations and supporting materials for:

- Executive meetings.

- Leadership forums.

- Town halls.

- Stakeholder engagement sessions.

- Support organizational change initiatives through employee engagement and change communications.

Required Qualifications And Must-Have Skills

- Experience developing and implementing effective communication plans.

- Experience developing professional internal and organizational communications, including:

- Executive/leadership messages.

- Employee communications.

- Organizational announcements.

- Briefing materials.

- Other communication products.

- Experience developing professional presentations and visual communication materials for senior leadership, including advanced use of Microsoft PowerPoint.

- Experience reviewing and evaluating existing communications and recommending or implementing improvements to:

- Audience suitability.

- Experience with professional business writing, editing, and translating complex business or technical information into clear, concise, audience-appropriate communications.

- Experience working directly with executives, senior leaders, managers, and subject matter experts to:

- Collaborate with executives, managers, SMEs, and project teams.

- Provide communications advice and recommendations to CTS leadership.
