Our Montreal-based client is seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Upgrade Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of an upgrade from an existing S/4HANA version to the 2025 target release.
This is a 12-month contract that is primarily remote, with potential onsite requests in Montreal. The number of onsite days has not yet been determined.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines and resource allocations aligned with global program milestones.
- Establish and maintain RAID logs covering risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
- Ensure alignment with SAP Activate methodology and internal governance frameworks.
- Oversee the complete upgrade lifecycle, including preparation, sandbox testing, development, QA and production cutover.
- Coordinate validation, regression and performance testing.
- Manage change-control processes and support business continuity during and after the upgrade.
- Coordinate IT teams, business process owners, SAP consultants, BASIS teams and external vendors.
- Provide regular project updates and executive reporting.
- Identify and proactively mitigate project risks.
- Ensure compliance with applicable governance and regulatory requirements.
- Drive change management, training and documentation readiness.
- Support user adoption and post-upgrade stabilization.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of SAP project management experience.
- Proven experience leading SAP S/4HANA version upgrades, ideally from a 2020/2021 release to 2023 or later.
- Strong knowledge of SAP Activate methodology.
- Expertise across Supply Chain and Manufacturing workstreams.
- Experience coordinating multiple vendors and global project stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder-management and executive communication skills.
- PMP, PRINCE2 or an equivalent project-management certification.
- Experience working within highly regulated environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology or life-sciences experience.
- Experience with complex integrations and custom-code remediation.
- Understanding of SAP system architecture and BASIS activities.
- Experience leading large-scale testing and cutover activities.
- SAP-specific certifications.
