Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Database Administrator 2 to support enterprise database administration, data warehousing, data modeling, performance tuning, security, backup/recovery, and database development activities. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with enterprise-class databases, data warehouses, data marts, ETL processes, SQL, analytical/reporting tools, and database performance management.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, maintain, and optimize enterprise database management systems and integrated database environments.
- Perform database performance tuning, benchmarking, threshold testing, capacity analysis, and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Design and implement logical and physical data models, including relational models, Star Schemas, Snowflake Schemas, and highly normalized data models.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of data warehouses and data marts.
- Develop and maintain database structures, stored procedures, utilities, and SQL processes to support application and reporting requirements.
- Manage data warehouse population, data sourcing, transformation, loading, and data integration activities.
- Work with GUI-based ETL tools, including Informatica, IBM WebSphere DataStage, or similar technologies.
- Implement and support enterprise-class database technologies such as Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, or similar platforms.
- Utilize database access tools to support application delivery, data analysis, and reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, ensuring consistent data definitions, standards, and data governance.
- Support database security, access controls, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and restoration procedures.
- Create and maintain test database environments and support application testing and deployment activities.
- Analyze user requirements for new data elements and systems and integrate them into the existing shared data environment.
- Collaborate with developers, programmers, analysts, technical teams, and business stakeholders to assess the impact of database changes.
- Support analytical and reporting platforms such as Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion, MicroStrategy, or similar tools.
- Create and support Power BI reports and dashboards as applicable.
- Provide technical assistance to users and troubleshoot database and data-access issues.
- Ensure database administration interfaces and data input/output processes comply with applicable EIR accessibility standards and support assistive technologies.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience working with database management systems, data warehouses, and decision-support tools.
- 5+ years of experience developing, implementing, and maintaining data warehouses and data marts.
- 5+ years of experience with Business Objects and data dictionary development.
- 5+ years of experience using database access tools for application delivery.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, data population, data modeling, and database design.
- Hands-on experience with Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, and highly normalized data models.
- Strong experience with SQL and database development.
- Experience with GUI-based ETL tools, such as Informatica, IBM WebSphere DataStage, or equivalent.
- Experience implementing enterprise database platforms such as Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, or similar technologies.
- Experience with analytical and reporting tools such as Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion, MicroStrategy, or similar.
- Strong understanding of the complete data warehouse implementation lifecycle, including business requirements, logical modeling, physical database design, data sourcing, transformation, data loading, SQL, and end-user reporting tools.
- Understanding of database benchmarking and performance management techniques.
