About The Role
The Accounting Manager owns the monthly close, technical accounting, and financial reporting processes for a growing technology business. The role applies US GAAP to revenue, leases, equity, stock-based compensation, and other complex transactions while maintaining accurate books and audit-ready support.
You will strengthen internal controls under SOX, partner with FP&A, legal, tax, and external auditors, and turn accounting data into reliable reporting for finance leadership. The role is based in Boston, MA and is remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis in the ERP system
- Prepare US GAAP financial statements, management reporting packages, and supporting schedules for SEC reporting requirements
- Manage technical accounting research and documentation for revenue recognition, leases, equity transactions, stock-based compensation, and business combinations
- Design, operate, and improve SOX controls; maintain control narratives, evidence, remediation plans, and testing support
- Coordinate external audits, quarterly reviews, tax requests, and accounting policy deliverables with auditors and advisors
- Partner with FP&A, legal, payroll, tax, and business operations to assess transactions and resolve accounting issues
- Improve close and reporting workflows using ERP, reconciliation, consolidation, and reporting tools; document procedures and track key accounting metrics
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a technology, SaaS, or other high-growth environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; active CPA license or CPA eligibility preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, SEC reporting requirements, and internal control frameworks
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, technical accounting memos, audit coordination, and financial statement preparation
- Experience with ERP and financial systems such as NetSuite, Workday, Oracle, SAP, or similar, plus advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Clear, precise communicator who can manage deadlines, challenge assumptions, and explain accounting conclusions to non-accounting stakeholders
- Bonus: Public accounting experience, SEC filing experience, SaaS revenue recognition expertise, experience with BlackLine or FloQast, and familiarity with ASC 606, ASC 842, and ASC 718
