Position Summary
The Senior Digital Content Strategist will develop and execute user-centered content strategies for digital experiences serving care seekers, healthcare professionals, and researchers. This individual will combine strategic thinking, UX writing, content design, SEO, accessibility, analytics, and experimentation to create clear and effective digital content.
The position will collaborate with Marketing, Communications, Design, Product, Technology, and subject-matter experts to improve user journeys across new and evolving digital platforms. The ideal candidate can independently manage complex projects and move comfortably between high-level content strategy and detailed content creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute digital-first content strategies for care seekers, healthcare professionals, researchers, and other key audiences.
- Create, revise, and optimize content across websites and other digital experiences.
- Ensure content is clear, accessible, user-centered, accurate, and aligned with organizational and audience goals.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to define and improve user journeys across new and evolving digital experiences.
- Translate business objectives, audience needs, and complex information into effective digital content.
- Develop messaging frameworks, headlines, body copy, microcopy, navigation labels, and calls to action.
- Apply UX writing and content-design principles to improve comprehension, usability, engagement, and task completion.
- Lead and support A/B testing, content experiments, and other optimization initiatives.
- Use qualitative and quantitative research, user feedback, analytics, and performance data to guide content decisions.
- Apply SEO best practices to improve content visibility, relevance, and discoverability.
- Ensure digital content follows accessibility requirements, editorial standards, brand guidelines, and content-governance practices.
- Partner with designers, developers, product managers, marketers, and subject-matter experts throughout the content-development process.
- Present content recommendations and explain the user, business, and performance considerations supporting them.
- Help develop and maintain reusable content standards, templates, workflows, and best practices.
- Manage multiple content initiatives while consistently meeting quality standards and project deadlines.
- Monitor content performance and recommend improvements based on user behavior, organizational priorities, and evolving digital needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five to seven years of professional experience in content strategy, content design, UX writing, digital content development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing content strategies that connect user needs with business and organizational objectives.
- Experience creating and optimizing content for websites, applications, or other digital platforms.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating content strategy, UX writing, content design, or digital-content work.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
- Ability to move effectively between high-level strategic planning and detailed content development.
- Working knowledge of content testing methods, including A/B testing and content experimentation.
- Experience using analytics, user research, testing results, and performance data to improve content.
- Strong understanding of SEO principles and their application to digital content.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive content practices.
- Understanding of user-centered design and how content can address usability and customer-experience challenges.
- Exceptional writing, editing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to adapt content for different audiences, digital channels, and stages of the user journey.
- Experience collaborating with designers, developers, marketers, product managers, and subject-matter experts.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, digital media, user experience, or a related discipline.
- Experience creating digital content within healthcare, life sciences, medical research, or another highly regulated industry.
- Familiarity with healthcare terminology and the communication needs of patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and researchers.
- Experience with content-management systems, SEO platforms, web analytics tools, and experimentation platforms.
- Knowledge of content governance, design systems, structured content, and scalable content operations.
