Title: Application Development Team Lead
Duration: FTE/Perm
Location: Hybrid 2 days a week a week onsite in NYC
Salary: 200-250k
A direct client is looking for a Team Lead of Application Development to serve as both technical lead and lead architect/developer on high-visibility custom application projects. This is an ideal role for a forward-thinking developer who has already modernized how they build software by weaving AI-assisted coding tools and intelligent development environments into daily work — think Databricks Assistant, Snowflake Copilot, Vibe Coding, Cursor, Anthropic Code, GitHub Copilot, Tabnine, and Sourcegraph Cody — to boost productivity, quality, and collaboration across both front-end and back-end initiatives.
What you'll do:
- Own a portfolio of work and guide the team on technology direction, including architectural design, AI-assisted code development, and code reviews
- Apply AI development tools and intelligent assistants to speed up development, refactoring, and testing
- Champion the adoption of AI-powered workflows to streamline delivery and strengthen code reliability and maintainability
- Support day-to-day team operations — task assignment, progress tracking, and issue resolution
- Keep the team working cohesively and efficiently, in line with firm development standards
- Guide projects through all phases of the software development life cycle
- Model and promote secure, ethical, and responsible use of AI tools across the engineering process
What you'll bring:
- 3+ years leading development teams
- 5+ years programming web applications and services
- 5+ years across the full development lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, QA, release, and maintenance
- Proven track record integrating AI coding assistants into real, professional development workflows
- Mobile web development experience using jQuery Mobile and responsive design
- A strong sense of ownership over code quality and adherence to best practices
- Experience with Agile methodologies and Team Foundation Server (Azure DevOps) is a strong plus
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and independent, with genuine enthusiasm for learning new technology — especially in AI and automation
- Hands-on experience with the .NET Framework (C#, ASP.NET, WebAPI), MVC, JSON, REST APIs, HTML, CSS/CSS3, jQuery, AJAX, and XML/XSL/XSD
- Proven experience with modern front-end development using Angular 16+
- Experience deploying, managing, and scaling containerized applications with Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience with Entity Data Model, Dapper, and LINQ
- Experience building full-text search engines (Apache Solr or Elastic Search)
- Advanced SQL Server 2019+ experience, including complex stored procedures, triggers, views, data modeling, and performance tuning
- SharePoint Online experience is a plus
- Strong scripting ability in VBScript, PowerShell, or Python
- Ability to responsibly integrate AI-generated components into enterprise applications, both new and existing
- Familiarity with AI-driven UI/UX tools such as UXPilot or Figma is a bonus
- Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with AI-assisted development tools, including but not limited to Databricks Assistant, Snowflake Copilot and Cortex AI, Vibe Coding, Cursor, Anthropic Code, GitHub Copilot, Tabnine, Sourcegraph Cody, ChatGPT (OpenAI Developer Tools), and Mutable AI
