Java Developer – Mid-Tier Services & Cloud Platform
Our client, a well-established enterprise organization, is seeking an experienced Java Developer to join their technology team. This role will focus on building and maintaining mid-tier services, modernizing legacy integrations, and supporting cloud-native application delivery in a collaborative, Agile environment.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain mid-tier services using Java / J2EE and EJB
- Apply advanced Java techniques including annotation processing, code generation, and integration with legacy codebases
- Build and consume RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs
- Contribute to microservices architecture, including service decomposition and inter-service communication patterns
- Implement event-driven solutions using message queues such as Kafka, SQS, or similar
- Design and optimize SQL/relational database solutions (Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar)
- Work with ORM frameworks (Hibernate, JPA) for data persistence
- Develop and deploy applications leveraging AWS services (EC2, EKS, ECS, S3, Secrets Manager, IAM, CloudWatch)
- Manage containerized workloads with Docker and orchestrate deployments via Kubernetes (pods, deployments, services, config maps, troubleshooting)
- Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar)
- Apply Infrastructure as Code principles using Terraform and/or CloudFormation
- Partner with business, technology, and delivery teams, translating technical concepts for mixed stakeholder audiences
- Participate in Agile delivery, iterative testing, and disciplined documentation practices
What You Bring
- Strong hands-on experience with Java / J2EE, EJB, and enterprise mid-tier development
- Proven experience with microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, and event-driven architecture
- Solid SQL and relational database experience
- Practical experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker in production environments
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating cross-functionally
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience with enterprise application design, cloud integrations, data solutions, or platform automation
Nice to Have
- Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Kiro, or similar)
- Experience with identity lifecycle processes, access/privilege structures, SoD remediation, or cloud security auditing
