Important: This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Our client is building the next generation of intelligent wireless networks — combining Open RAN architectures, RF machine learning, and cybersecurity to solve problems that don't yet have off-the-shelf answers. We're looking for a hands-on software developer who wants to write real code against real hardware, not just sit in meetings about it.
This is an execution role: you'll be building, integrating, and testing software for O-RAN and Beyond 5G (B5G) systems — developing xApps/rApps, working directly with software-defined radios and wireless testbeds, and applying RFML techniques to spectrum awareness, anomaly detection, and network security. If you like taking a concept from the whiteboard to a working prototype, this is the job for you.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
● Hands-on experience with O-RAN architectures, interfaces, or systems
● Background in Radio Frequency Machine Learning (RFML) — applying ML to RF/wireless signal data
● Experience with software-defined radios and wireless testbeds
● Familiarity with OpenAirInterface or srsRAN
● Experience building xApps or rApps, or working with the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC)
● Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python in a Linux environment
If several of these describe your background, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Do
● Design, develop, and test software for O-RAN and NextG wireless systems, including xApps and rApps
● Develop RFML algorithms for signal processing, network optimization, spectrum awareness, anomaly detection, and security applications
● Integrate software with SDRs, wireless testbeds, and embedded/RF hardware
● Build and maintain real-time and near-real-time wireless applications
● Develop APIs connecting wireless, ML, cybersecurity, and network-management components
● Support system integration, lab testing, demos, and technical evaluations
● Troubleshoot software, RF, and hardware-in-the-loop issues
● Document designs, test procedures, and results; contribute to technical reports and publications as needed
Required Qualifications
● Hands-on knowledge of O-RAN technologies, architectures, or systems
● Experience developing or integrating software for wireless communications systems
● Background in RFML concepts, applications, or systems
● Strong programming proficiency in C, C++, and Python
● Experience developing, debugging, and testing software in Linux
● U.S. citizenship, with ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with SDRs, OpenAirInterface, or srsRAN
● Experience building O-RAN xApps or rApps
● Familiarity with the RIC, SMO, or near-real-time network control
● Applied ML on RF/wireless signal data, including model deployment or real-time inference
● Zero Trust or cybersecurity experience for wireless/distributed systems
● Multithreading, concurrency, or SMP-safe programming
● Real-time/low-latency software or embedded systems experience
● Containerization, virtualization, or cloud-native development
● Git, CI/CD, or software configuration management experience
● Publications, patents, or technology demonstrations (a plus, not required)
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, wireless communications, or a related technical field. Advanced degree preferred. Equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
