Location: South San Francisco | 4 days onsite
Compensation: $220k–$290k base + two annual cash bonuses
I’m partnering with a well-funded life sciences R&D organization building a new frontier ML capability for scientific discovery.
This is a high-agency role for someone who can take ambitious ML ideas from prototype to large-scale training-while establishing the engineering foundations that enable researchers to move faster.
You’ll work on:
- Transformers, diffusion models, vision architectures and biological sequence models
- Highly optimized JAX or PyTorch implementations
- Distributed training, accelerators and model parallelism
- Evaluation frameworks, benchmarks and reusable research tooling
- Complex research systems and high-throughput data pipelines
We’re looking for strong mathematical and model-building depth, excellent Python engineering, and evidence of personally developing or optimizing advanced architectures.
No biology background is required. Relocation support is available.
