Role: Technical Business Analyst/Data Analyst – Trade Surveillance

Job Description
Needs a senior Technical Business Analyst/Data Analyst for its Wealth Management Monitoring team. The consultant will use SQL and trading data to build compliance-surveillance models that identify potentially illegal or suspicious trades entered by Financial Advisors.
Note: This is not a general BA or Data Analyst position. Investment banking, trading-data and market-surveillance experience are mandatory.
Mandatory Requirements
- At least 10 years of Business Analyst experience in global organizations
- Investment banking and trading experience
- Strong SQL and relational database experience
- Knowledge of trade, position and reference data
- Strong understanding of the complete trade lifecycle
- Experience with multiple asset classes:
- Equities
- Fixed Income
- Options
- Futures
- Experience with compliance or trade-surveillance platforms such as:
- Actimize
- MANTAS
- SunGard
- SMARTS
- Understanding of surveillance models, including:
- Wash trading
- Spoofing
- Insider trading
- Marking the open/close
- Business requirements, Agile user stories and documentation experience
- Data-gap analysis and data mapping experience
- UAT planning and execution
- BDD experience
- Strong written and verbal communication
Responsibilities
- Gather and document business and technical requirements.
- Write Agile user stories and proof-of-concept documentation.
- Analyze trading datasets using SQL and identify data gaps.
- Support the development of compliance-surveillance models.
- Work with Risk, Compliance, Technology and development teams.
- Create and execute BDD and UAT test plans.
- Manage project plans, timelines, risks and escalations.
- Lead stakeholder meetings and cross-functional teams.
- Provide product support and mentor junior team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Project-management and SDLC experience
- Waterfall and Agile delivery experience
- Experience with medium-to-large technology projects
- Previous wealth-management monitoring experience
