Civil Stormwater Engineer

Location: Phoenix, AZ, On-site

Our client is seeking a Civil Stormwater Engineer to help deliver technically challenging drainage, floodplain, and land development projects across the greater Phoenix market. This role offers the chance to lead critical water-management engineering efforts, applying advanced technical expertise to develop effective, field-ready approaches for challenging site and infrastructure needs. The position offers exposure to a diverse mix of master-planned communities, residential and commercial developments, public infrastructure, and FEMA-related floodplain work, with the opportunity to collaborate alongside experienced civil engineering professionals.

Focus:

- Develop technical drainage solutions for a variety of site and infrastructure applications, evaluating runoff, conveyance, flooding, and stormwater performance across complex project environments.

- Design and assess stormwater management strategies addressing water storage, flow control, channel stability, erosion mitigation, and related drainage infrastructure.

- Support planning studies by assessing drainage alternatives and developing preliminary cost information for recommended improvements.

- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, exhibits, and floodplain documentation.

- Support stormwater permitting, management, and regulatory compliance activities.

- Leverage geospatial technology and mapping information to support basin assessments, stormwater planning, and the development of civil engineering solutions.

- Use Autodesk Civil3D to support drainage design and construction documentation for channels, culverts, storm drains, and related improvements.

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to move projects efficiently from technical analysis through design and documentation.

Skill Set:

- Minimum of four years of professional experience addressing water resources and flood management needs for complex land development projects, including work associated with FEMA regulatory requirements.

- Active Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is necessary, with Professional Engineer (PE) credentials considered an additional advantage.

- Hands-on experience with HEC-1 or HEC-HMS, HEC-2 or HEC-RAS, and FLO-2D.

- Familiarity with geospatial mapping platforms and their application to stormwater planning and infrastructure engineering.

- Proficiency with Autodesk Civil3D.

- Background reviewing and developing technical drawings and project requirements for stormwater conveyance, crossing structures, drainage networks, and related civil improvements.

- Proven ability to produce and evaluate engineering documentation for drainage-focused construction, including open-channel systems, roadway crossings, underground conveyance, and comparable infrastructure.

- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
