About the Position
We are looking for an experienced Algorithm Team Leader to lead a team of computer vision engineers developing production-ready AI and computer vision solutions for automotive products.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical leadership, people management, and end-to-end ownership of algorithm development as part of an algorithm development group. You will drive the complete development lifecycle, from product requirements and data collection through proof-of-concept, algorithm development, validation, optimization, hand over and support of porting and production readiness.
You will work closely with Embedded Software, System Engineering, Product, Hardware, QA, and global Gentex teams to support production deployment on embedded platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of computer vision and deep learning engineers, fostering technical excellence, innovation, and professional growth.
- Own the end-to-end development of computer vision algorithms, from requirements definition and data collection through proof-of-concept, validation, and production readiness.
- Drive algorithm research, technical direction, architecture decisions, and KPI definition for new and existing product features.
- Collaborate closely with embedded software teams to optimize algorithms for edge devices and support production deployment on embedded platforms.
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Systems, Hardware, QA, and global engineering teams to deliver robust automotive-grade solutions.
- Lead technical planning, execution, and delivery while balancing innovation, performance, quality, and business objectives.
What Are We Looking For?
- M.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in deep learning computer vision algorithm development. Experience with classical computer vision is a strong advantage.
- 2 years of technical and/or people leadership experience leading engineers or complex technical projects.
- Proven experience leading end-to-end algorithm development from concept through production.
- Strong experience with modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving approach, and execution skills.
- Strong advantage: Experience developing and optimizing computer vision or deep learning algorithms for edge devices and resource-constrained embedded platforms.
- Advantage: Background in 3D vision, camera calibration, geometry, optics, or sensor fusion.
