Flex Building Systems is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new customer acquisition and revenue growth for our innovative composite building system.
This is a hands-on new business development role for a proven hunter. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying prospects, opening doors, developing opportunities, and moving projects from initial conversation through purchase order.
Our primary growth market is commercial self-storage, where Flex offers developers and operators an alternative to traditional interior building methods. Our system uses durable composite panels to provide a fast, customizable construction solution designed to help customers reduce construction complexity and accelerate their path to revenue.

- Proactively generate new business through cold calling, targeted outreach, networking, industry events, referrals, and in-person customer visits.
- Develop relationships with self-storage developers, owners/operators, commercial developers, contractors, architects, and other key decision-makers.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities rather than relying primarily on inbound leads
- Conduct discovery with prospects to understand project requirements, timelines, construction challenges, financial objectives, and decision-making criteria.

- Work with customers and the Flex team to evaluate project plans and develop appropriate solutions.
- Maintain a disciplined follow-up cadence throughout longer sales cycles.
- Manage opportunities, activities, contacts, next steps, and pipeline forecasts through the company CRM.
- Represent Flex Building Systems professionally at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and project sites.
- Collaborate with internal estimating, engineering, operations, and leadership teams to move qualified opportunities toward successful close.
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to hunt for and create new business rather than simply manage existing accounts.
- Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to uncover customer needs and connect solutions to measurable business outcomes.
- Comfortable discussing ROI, project economics, timelines, costs, and value with business owners and senior decision-makers.
- Ability to develop credibility with developers, contractors, architects, engineers, and other construction-industry professionals.

- Experience selling a technical, engineered, construction-related, capital, or other complex B2B solution strongly preferred.
- Experience selling to commercial developers, property owners/operators, contractors, architects, engineers, municipalities, or similar decision-makers preferred.
- Building or engineering fluency is beneficial, but demonstrated sales performance and ability to learn technical products are more important than direct industry experience.
- Experience managing longer, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
- Working knowledge of CRM software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability and willingness to travel for customer meetings, industry events, and project opportunities as required.

- Can talk comfortably with both a contractor about construction and an owner/developer about the economics of a project.
- Likes selling differentiated solutions where education and value creation matter more than simply offering the lowest price.
