Macro Data Analyst - Systematic Trading
A systematic macro fund is hiring a Macro Data Analyst to help turn complex economic and market data into clear, actionable insight.
This is an opportunity for someone who is intellectually curious, highly analytical, and excited by the intersection of macroeconomics, financial markets, data, and technology. You’ll work with large and varied datasets, identify the signals that matter, and help build the analytical foundations that inform our research and decision-making.
As a Macro Data Analyst, you will:
- Source, clean, structure, and maintain macroeconomic and financial datasets from a wide range of providers.
- Analyse economic indicators, market data, and cross-asset relationships to identify trends, anomalies, and regime changes.
- Build dashboards, models, and analytical tools that make complex data easy to interrogate and understand.
- Develop and maintain reliable data pipelines and processes for recurring macroeconomic releases.
- Work closely with researchers and other members of the Tekmerion team to translate questions and hypotheses into rigorous analysis.
- Evaluate new datasets and alternative data sources for their potential analytical value.
- Communicate findings clearly, combining quantitative evidence with an understanding of the underlying economic story.
- Help improve the quality, scalability, and automation of Tekmerion’s macro data infrastructure.
You’ll likely have:
- A strong quantitative background in economics, econometrics, finance, mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related discipline.
- A genuine interest in macroeconomics, financial markets, and understanding what drives economies and asset prices.
- Strong skills in Python and SQL, with experience working with large or complex datasets.
- A good understanding of statistical analysis, time-series data, and data visualisation.
- Excellent attention to detail and a healthy scepticism toward data — you instinctively want to understand where a number came from and whether it can be trusted.
- The ability to move between detailed analytical work and the bigger economic picture.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive mindset and comfort working in an environment where problems are not always neatly defined.
