ML Research Engineer | Systematic Macro / FX
We just placed a high-performing systematic macro PM, they are building out a new team at a leading multi-manager platform, with an initial focus on fast-paced FX trading.
This is a rare opportunity for an early-career to mid-level Machine Learning Research Engineer to build production-grade research capability from the ground up.
This hire will work closely with the PM to develop independent ML models and scalable research pipelines across large, complex datasets. This is not a role that requires prior markets knowledge; it is ideal for an engineer who wants genuine exposure to the full lifecycle of applied ML in a live trading environment.
Scope:
• Build and maintain scalable ML research pipelines
• Develop and train large ML models across varied datasets
• Own data ingestion, feature workflows and experiment infrastructure
• Work with distributed compute, parallelisation and ML DevOps tooling
• Write high-quality Python for research and production applications
• Depending on your profile, contribute to execution technology and trading infrastructure
Target:
• Excellent computer science and ML fundamentals
• Strong Python engineering skills
• Experience with distributed computing, scalable data pipelines and model development
• An AI/ML-focused academic background, ideally including a PhD or exceptional MSc from Oxbridge, Imperial, ETH Zurich or leading Paris universities
• Background from a strong technology company, research lab or similarly demanding environment welcome
• Curiosity, independence and an appetite to build rather than simply optimise an established platform
