The role
This company builds AI software for the defence of democracies. Their mission is to protect open societies through technological leadership. They're over 800 people across Europe, backed by leading investors, and have secured significant funding to scale their impact. The engineering team includes talent from top-tier tech companies, focused on real-time sensor data processing.
As a Deployed AI Engineer, you'll take state-of-the-art AI and integrate it directly into complex, real-world defence systems. This isn't a research role; it's about making software matter in active use. You'll work hand-in-hand with customer engineers, owning the end-to-end outcome of critical deployments. Expect to dive deep into unfamiliar legacy systems, not just build greenfield solutions.
The work
- Integrate advanced AI software into operational defence platforms.
- Collaborate directly with customer avionics engineers to map data structures and APIs within mission-control systems.
- Reverse-engineer unfamiliar databases, network protocols, and specifications to build robust cloud adapters.
- Partner with product teams to formalise requirements, identify bugs, and ship features directly to end-users.
- Lead technology demonstrations, showcasing AI capabilities in simulations and live systems with customers and partners.
What You Bring
- A degree in computer science, software, or electrical engineering, with a broad command of computer systems.
- A genuine drive to understand complex, unfamiliar systems, preferring to make legacy infrastructure work over rewriting it.
- Strong software engineering experience in C++, Java, Rust, or similar, alongside proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash.
- Expertise in navigating and configuring Linux environments, network stacks, and database systems.
- Comfort working closely with customers and partners, often on-site, with a bias for asking questions to solve problems.
