JOB – Electrical Project Design Engineer

LOCATION – Norfolk

TERM – Permanent

SALARY – £40,000 – £45,000 (DOE)

My client is a growing control systems and electrical engineering business specialising in electrical control systems, LV switchgear and automation. They are looking for an experienced Electrical Project Design Engineer to join their team.

This is a great opportunity to take ownership of projects from initial concept through to design, manufacture, testing and commissioning, working closely with clients and internal teams throughout.

The Electrical Project Design Engineer will ideally have:

- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience

- 3+ years' experience in electrical design, controls, automation or project engineering

- Strong LV switchgear and control panel experience

- EPLAN and AutoCAD experience

- PLC/HMI programming experience, ideally Siemens, Omron or Schneider

- Good understanding of industrial automation and control systems

- Experience managing projects from enquiry to completion

- Ability to interpret and modify customer drawings

- Basic knowledge of pneumatics and valve control

- UKCA/CE knowledge; UL508A advantageous

- Excellent communication and client-facing skills

- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally

The Electrical Project Design Engineer role will involve:

- Managing projects from enquiry through to design, manufacture, testing and commissioning

- Working with clients to develop electrical and control solutions

- Producing schematics, panel layouts and LV switchgear designs using EPLAN and AutoCAD

- Preparing quotations, estimates, FDS and technical documentation

- Interpreting and amending customer drawings

- Maintaining build documentation for control panels and repeat products

- Supporting PLC/HMI programming, FAT, commissioning and fault finding

- Liaising with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams

- Providing post-installation and technical support

- Updating and improving technical files, equipment and systems

- Managing multiple projects to agreed timescales and quality standards
