JOB – Electronics Technician

LOCATION – Warwick

TERM – Permanent

SALARY – £30,000 - £35,000 (Dependent on Experience)

My client is an innovative product design and development consultancy, working across a diverse range of exciting projects including consumer products, transport solutions and safety-critical medical devices.

Working as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary technical team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to products from initial concept through to launch, collaborating with designers, mechanical engineers, software engineers and other technical specialists.

The Electronics Technician will ideally have the following attributes:

- Excellent hands-on soldering skills, including experience hand-reworking PCBs with very small surface mount components

- Previous experience working within a product development or R&D environment rather than a traditional production environment

- Strong understanding of PCBs and electronic circuit principles

- Experience hand-building circuit modifications, prototype circuit boards and breadboards from informal technical briefs

- Familiarity with electronics CAD systems and the ability to interpret PCB designs and schematics

- Experience creating PCB components and layouts for test boards would be advantageous

- Good organisational skills, with the ability to maintain an electronics laboratory and manage equipment effectively

- A relevant electronics qualification alongside practical hands-on experience

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary project teams

- A proactive, enthusiastic and adaptable approach with the ability to quickly learn new information and technical skills

- Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality technical work

The Electronics Technician role will involve:

- Providing hands-on electronics technical support across a diverse range of product development projects

- Building and modifying prototype electronic circuits and PCBs

- Hand-soldering and reworking PCBs, including very small surface mount components

- Creating circuit modifications and prototype circuit breadboards from technical briefs

- Using electronics CAD systems to access and interpret PCB design information

- Supporting the creation of PCB components and layouts for test boards

- Working closely with designers, mechanical engineers, software engineers and other technical teams to integrate electronics into product designs

- Managing multiple project requests and prioritising your workload effectively

- Maintaining the electronics laboratory, equipment and associated resources

- Supporting the testing, development and refinement of electronic products and prototypes

- Identifying and solving technical issues throughout the product development process

- Contributing to innovative projects across consumer, transport, medical and other technology sectors

- Continuing to develop your technical knowledge and skills within a fast-paced consultancy environment
