Job Description
Put your litigation experience to work with an established Des Moines law firm where experienced legal support professionals play an important role in the success of the litigation team.
The Reserves Network is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to provide hands-on support to attorneys handling active litigation matters. You’ll help keep cases moving by managing legal documents, court filings, calendars, deadlines, and case-related coordination while working closely with attorneys and other legal professionals.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 3+ years of litigation legal support experience who is looking for a stable, long-term position with a respected firm and a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, format, and proofread pleadings, motions, correspondence, discovery documents, and other litigation materials
- Manage attorney calendars, court dates, filing deadlines, appointments, and other time-sensitive case activities
- Prepare and electronically file legal documents with state and federal courts
- Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, meetings, and other litigation-related events
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical case files
- Assist attorneys with document production, case preparation, and ongoing litigation support
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other parties
- Assist with client intake and ongoing case-related communication
- Process correspondence, mail, invoices, and other administrative documentation
- Provide day-to-day administrative and case management support to attorneys and the litigation team
Qualifications and Requirements
- 3+ years of Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or comparable legal support experience within litigation
- Experience preparing, formatting, proofreading, and filing litigation documents
- Working knowledge of court procedures, filing requirements, legal terminology, and litigation deadlines
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information

The base salary range for this position is $60,000–$70,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note that hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
