Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead AWS cloud-native application modernization strategies for legacy and monolithic applications.
- Assess existing application architectures and recommend appropriate modernization approaches such as rehost, replatform, refactor, and rearchitect.
- Design scalable, highly available, and resilient AWS architectures aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Define and implement microservices-based architectures using appropriate AWS services.
- Design serverless solutions using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, and SNS.
- Develop API-led and event-driven integration architectures across enterprise applications and services.
- Design containerized application architectures using Amazon ECS, EKS, and Docker.
- Design application integration patterns using REST APIs, messaging, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures.
- Define data migration and modernization strategies across relational and NoSQL databases.
- Work with services such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, and S3 based on application requirements.
- Design secure networking architectures using VPC, subnets, security groups, IAM, load balancers, and Route 53.
- Implement cloud security, identity, encryption, secrets management, and access-control best practices.
- Guide development teams in implementing cloud-native design patterns, coding standards, and architectural best practices.
- Define CI/CD and DevSecOps strategies using AWS-native and third-party tools.
- Support infrastructure automation using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Establish observability strategies using CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, CloudTrail, and other monitoring platforms.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and AWS infrastructure costs.
- Create architecture diagrams, technical designs, solution proposals, and implementation roadmaps.
- Conduct architecture reviews and identify technical risks, dependencies, and modernization opportunities.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development and cloud engineering teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical AWS solutions.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience in software architecture, cloud architecture, application development, or related technology roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud architecture and application modernization.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience designing serverless architectures using AWS services.
- Strong experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Step Functions, and related services.
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and enterprise integrations.
- Strong understanding of API management, asynchronous communication, messaging, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, preferably Amazon ECS/EKS.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, IAM, and AWS Well-Architected principles.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and database modernization.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
- Strong programming experience in at least one language such as Java, Python, Node.js, or .NET.
- Experience with application performance, monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting.
- Strong architectural documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
- Experience with AWS Migration and Modernization programs.
- Knowledge of AWS Application Migration Service and Database Migration Service.
- Experience modernizing legacy Java/.NET monolithic applications.
- Experience with domain-driven design (DDD) and 12-factor application principles.
- Knowledge of API management platforms such as Amazon API Gateway, Kong, or Apigee.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed messaging systems.
- Knowledge of AWS Step Functions, EventBridge, and Amazon MSK/Kafka.
- Experience with observability platforms and OpenTelemetry.
- Knowledge of cloud cost optimization and FinOps principles.
- Exposure to AI/ML-enabled application modernization is an advantage.
