🔹 Position Overview
The Civil Engineer I (PE) will perform independent engineering design, analysis, and project coordination under general supervision. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead small-to-moderate projects or key components of larger projects while ensuring designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Key areas include:
- Site development
- Grading and drainage
- Stormwater and hydraulic design
- Utilities
- Paving and roadway design
- Construction documentation
🔹 Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform civil engineering design and analysis for assigned projects.
- Prepare engineering calculations, layouts, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Review and coordinate engineering deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
- Sign and seal engineering documents as required.
- Coordinate with survey teams to incorporate field data into project designs.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and applicable design/modeling software.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
- Support permitting activities and construction-related coordination.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and problem resolution.
- Communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members.
🔹 Qualifications
✅ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
✅ Active Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain one through reciprocity/comity.
✅ 4–8 years of progressive civil engineering experience following graduation.
✅ Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and stormwater/hydraulic modeling software.
✅ Strong knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, Texas and local codes, TDLR/ADA requirements, and permitting processes.
✅ Understanding of civil construction practices and project requirements.
✅ Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills.
✅ Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, on-site environment.
