**Description of Responsibilities**
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the Medical and Clinical Director with patient examinations or procedures and any clerical work needed.

**Scope of Supervision**
Responsibilities Of The Scheduling Coordinator Include The Following
- Record patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height, BMI and neck circumference.
- Authorize drug refills as the Provider approves them and provide prescription information to pharmacies and prior authorizations from insurance companies for drug refills.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
- Help with HME department as needed.
- Contact patients after their study is complete to let them know the status of their HME.
- Send medical records when requested.
- Work with and assist other departments in daily functions and activities.
- Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
- Participate in the Company's Performance Management program as requested by the Performance Management Coordinator.
- Participate in Company committees when requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Office Manager.
**Minimum Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Effective interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills in speaking and writing.
- Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
- Computer skills that include word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.
- Completion of a Medical Assitant Program.
- Have at least one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
