Senior LLM Researcher – Large Model & Agent Research
Our research organization drives foundational large language model development, from large-scale data science and training infrastructure through to agent systems and advanced reasoning, built on the company's Ascend computing foundation to power core businesses across terminals, cloud services, and ICT. As our large-model research agenda scales, we're growing a strong LLM and agent research function to match.
Reporting to research leadership, the Senior LLM Researcher takes charge of core large-model technology development — setting research direction across data science, model training, and agent capabilities, owning delivery of industry-leading results, and growing a high-performing research team.
- Lead breakthrough research in AI data science and engineering — spanning data synthesis, system construction, and curriculum design — to deliver industry-leading results
- Build core large language model competitiveness on the Ascend computing foundation, pushing long-sequence handling, agents, strong reasoning, and software engineering to industry-leading levels
- Drive technological breakthroughs in new architectures and reasoning-training algorithms that support the commercial success of core businesses across terminals, cloud services, and ICT
- Own hands-on large-model data construction, evaluation, and validation, with a strong grasp of data requirements for training, fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning
- Collaborate openly with the wider industry to define and tackle next-generation large-model technical challenges, from agent capabilities to reasoning performance
- Build the talent ladder — recruit, mentor, and grow high-value research talent, ensuring continuous development and measurable business impact
- Work with top-tier research resources, stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends in AI data science and large models, and contribute to core patents and proprietary technical solutions
- Partner cross-functionally to support delivery of high-quality models, agent modules, and related tooling
We're after a seasoned large-model research leader — holding a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field, with 3+ years managing research-oriented teams, defining business objectives, coordinating resources, and optimizing talent development pipelines. You should have a proven track record leading key technology research in large models and data engineering and translating that research into scalable products, along with hands-on experience in large-model data construction, evaluation, and validation across training, fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning. A demonstrated record in large-model training at a leading AI company, or in building well-known agent systems from scratch — with key contributions to core model training or critical agent modules (planning, memory, execution) — is highly valued, ideally backed by recognized technical publications or widely cited open-source projects. Multimodal data expertise, strong cross-team collaboration skills, and experience navigating large enterprise projects and organizational culture are a plus.
