We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the company’s Marketing Cloud Platform team in Tokyo.
The ideal candidate will have strong backend engineering experience and a proven track record of designing and developing scalable microservices and distributed systems. You will play a key role across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and architecture design through development, testing, deployment, and DevOps/SRE.

About the Role
The Platform Engineering team is responsible for the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from early-stage requirements analysis and architecture design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing operations.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to strategic engineering initiatives and help design and build the next generation of our marketing technology platform.
Depending on your experience and project assignment, your responsibilities may include:
- Analyzing business and technical requirements and translating them into robust engineering solutions
- Designing scalable and resilient system architectures
- Developing and operating highly available microservices
- Working with large-scale data processing and distributed systems
- Collaborating with product managers, business stakeholders, data engineers, and other engineering teams
- Improving system reliability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Participating in code reviews, testing, CI/CD, deployment, and DevOps/SRE activities
- Contributing to technical standards, engineering best practices, and architectural decisions
- Mentoring other engineers and contributing to the growth of the engineering organization
This position provides opportunities to work across multiple technology domains, including data engineering, distributed computing, microservices, cloud infrastructure, AI-driven solutions, and occasionally front-end development.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a significant focus on backend systems. (Ideally, 7–8+ years of professional software development experience.)
- Proven expertise in designing, developing, and deploying scalable microservices architectures.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, Go, or C#. (Ideally, experience with Golang is preferred.)
- Strong hands-on experience with production operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong collaborative mindset and a proven ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with data engineering principles, including ETL processes, data warehousing, and working with large datasets.
- Extensive experience with distributed computing concepts and technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with various database technologies, including relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their relevant services for compute, storage, and data processing.
- Solid understanding of software development best practices, including testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and version control (Git).
- Familiarity with multiple architectural patterns and design principles.
- Experience leading an engineering team, demonstrating proficiency in people management, project oversight, and cost management.
- Experience in the MarTech (Marketing Technology) industry.
