A stealth AI lab in Tokyo — led by one of Japan's most respected names in AI research, and having just closed one of the largest first-funding rounds in Japanese startup history — is building a proprietary foundation model from scratch, with a novel architecture designed to scale better than today's transformer-based models.
This is being built explicitly as a global consumer (B2C) product — bringing advanced AI to as many people as possible, safely, with privacy treated as a genuine priority by the leadership team, not a footnote.
The role
This is the frontline seat: you take a genuinely novel, from-scratch AGI and turn it into a product experience people fall in love with. Prompt engineering, UI craft, rapid prototyping, real user experiments — your decisions shape what people actually feel when they use this product for the first time.
What you'll do
- Ship AI-powered consumer features in fast cycles — prototype, experiment, learn, repeat
- Craft prompt quality and UX together — accuracy, tone, responsiveness, "wow" moments
- Run data-driven experiments (feature flags, A/B tests) to find what actually works
- Feed learnings back into the platform team, shaping the foundation from the product side
What we're looking for
- 7+ years building software, with real experience shipping user-facing (B2C) products
- Hands-on experience integrating LLMs/generative AI into products — including prompt design and iteration
- A track record of fast prototyping cycles that actually shipped results
