Collectively, they serve over 3 million students and employ more than 350,000 faculty and staff from a wide range of disciplines, making DEC one of the most globally representative alliances in education. DEC now counts over 200 member institutions.
The Job:
We are seeking an Associate, AI Research and Learning to research, design and build cutting-edge education programmes on AI. You will research emerging developments and applications of AI, translate them into relevant skills and learning outcomes, and build high-quality courses from the initial curriculum blueprint through to final delivery. This role is for someone who is hands-on, who works well with academic experts, and who follows AI closely.
You will work closely with DEC's research team, faculty contributors and member institutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Track developments in AI and their implications for teaching, learning and work,
- Research and write the substance of DEC's courses to a standard that stands up in front of senior academics
- Build with AI tools directly, so that what we teach is grounded in first-hand practice rather than secondary sources
- Prototype new formats and AI-enabled approaches to how material is taught, and turn what works into repeatable practice
- Work with faculty contributors and subject matter experts as a peer, drawing out their expertise and sharpening it into teaching material
- Translate DEC's research output into education programmes, and feed what you learn from learners back into the Council's research
- Maintain the quality bar for DEC's material, including structure, assessment and learner experience
Your profile:
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally spent creating educational, technical or analytical content
- Genuine understanding of AI: you use the tools daily, understand how they work, and can explain them to a sceptical expert
- Evidence of things you have made and published — courses, papers, essays, workshops, tools, open-source work.
- Able to read a technical paper, judge whether it matters, and explain why it matters to a non-technical audience
- Comfortable working with academic experts and senior stakeholders, and able to hold your own on the substance
- Excellent writer.
- Organised enough to ship several projects at once without compromising quality
- Comfortable working across time zones with a globally distributed team
