Job Title: Gov. Atlassian / Jira Administrator
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Job Overview the Jira Administrator is responsible for the overall management, optimization, and governance of the organization’s Gov. Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and integrated tools. This role serves as the primary point of contact for Atlassian initiatives, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, license management, process optimization, and system standardization while partnering with business, engineering, and IT stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Administration & Operations
- Oversee daily operations and maintenance of Atlassian tools, including Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
- Manage user access, roles, groups, and permissions to maintain security and compliance.
- Design, implement, and maintain workflows, schemes, dashboards, and automation rules.
- Monitor system performance, resolve escalations, and coordinate with Atlassian support as needed.
- Maintain integrations between Atlassian tools and third-party systems, such as Slack, GitHub, and CI/CD tools.
License Management & Renewals
- Maintain accurate records of all Atlassian product licenses and subscriptions.
- Manage renewals and negotiate with vendors to optimize cost efficiency.
- Track tool usage and enforce compliance with licensing policies.
- Forecast future license requirements based on organizational growth and project needs.
Optimization & Standardization
- Develop and enforce governance frameworks, best practices, and standard configurations across all instances.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement automation to increase efficiency.
- Drive consistency across workflow design, issue type management, and reporting structures.
- Review the Atlassian environment regularly to eliminate redundancies and improve user experience.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Partner with IT, PMO, Engineering, and Business teams to align Atlassian tools with organizational objectives.
- Conduct periodic training, onboarding sessions, and user enablement initiatives.
- Gather user feedback to continuously improve platform usability.
- Support project managers and scrum masters with reporting, metrics, and agile process adoption.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for configurations, processes, and governance standards.
- Ensure platform alignment with internal IT policies and data security guidelines.
- Support internal/external audits and contribute to risk management processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience administering Gov. Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.), with at least 2 years in a senior administrator role.
- Strong understanding of Gov. Jira workflows, schemes, automation, and REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with user and project management at scale within multi-instance environments.
- Familiarity with Atlassian Cloud and Data Center deployments.
- Scripting knowledge in Groovy, Python, or PowerShell.
- Experience with integration tools such as ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, or Atlassian Connect.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Atlassian certifications (ACP series) are preferred.
