Functional Analyst

Location: Brussels, Belgium

Working Model: 50% Onsite / 50% Remote

Contract: 6-month initial contract

Day Rate: €600 per day

Language: English mandatory; French mandatory; Dutch basic

The Role

We are supporting BNP Paribas in recruiting an experienced Functional Analyst to join the Brussels-based Tribe International Payments team.

The team is working on the development and maintenance of IT technologies supporting international payments, with a focus on innovative payment technologies and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT).

Working within a multicultural and empowered Agile squad, you will be responsible for analysing business requirements, designing functional solutions and supporting their development, testing, integration and deployment into production.

You will act as a key link between business stakeholders, Business Analysts, Product Owners, architects and technical teams, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and translated into effective functional and technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements & Solution Preparation

- Work closely with Business Analysts, clients and Product Owners to understand and refine business requirements.

- Propose appropriate solution options aligned with enterprise architecture, security standards and overall strategy.

- Assess potential solutions based on cost and benefit.

- Work with architects to define the solution architecture.

- Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical requirements, Features and User Stories.

- Coordinate with involved IT and asset teams to ensure a consistent understanding of requirements.

Functional Analysis & Solution Design

- Lead the functional elaboration of selected solutions.

- Translate business requirements into detailed specifications and analysis for Developers and Test Engineers.

- Define the functional responsibilities of different application and technical teams.

- Analyse the impact of proposed solutions across application components.

- Work with technical teams to define and document their requirements.

- Identify the data, processes and application components required to support the solution.

Development, Testing & Delivery

- Follow the development and testing process to ensure the delivered solution aligns with functional and technical specifications.

- Provide technical definitions for components supported by different teams.

- Support suppliers during development, integration and assembly testing.

- Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of APIs.

- Document solutions and functional specifications.

- Assist Test Engineers with test sets and test scenarios.

- Analyse defects and support the resolution of complex issues.

- Support release and deployment teams across different environments.

- Collaborate with other squads within Tribe International Payments and across the wider BNP Paribas Group.

Production Support

- Support operational teams and helpdesks once solutions are deployed into production.

- Analyse production incidents and coordinate their resolution.

- Maintain and update technical and functional documentation.

- Support continuous improvements following production feedback and incidents.

Essential Skills & Experience

- 7+ years of experience as a Functional Analyst.

- Strong functional and technical knowledge of IT systems.

- Experience working with banking and payment products.

- Experience analysing payment requirements and processes.

- Strong knowledge of analysis methodologies.

- Practical experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.

- Knowledge and experience in building Swagger APIs.

- Ability to translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications.

- Experience working with multiple technical teams, stakeholders and suppliers.

- Strong documentation and analytical skills.

- Experience working in complex, multicultural environments.
