We are adding a Junior Research Analyst to our team to support an ongoing project with a partner in the financial sector. This is a full time, permanent position designed for someone who enjoys organizing information and making complex things easier to understand. As a fully remote role, you will work closely with our consultants to ensure our findings are accurate and our records are useful for the client.
About the Role
In this position, you will support the day to day work of our advisory practice by managing the information that flows between our team and the client. Consulting projects often generate a large volume of notes, data points, and observations. The Junior Research Analyst ensures that this information is captured, sorted, and presented in a way that helps the client make better decisions. You will spend a significant portion of your time looking at how our financial partner currently handles internal tasks and finding ways to describe those processes more clearly. The goal of this role is to provide the factual foundation that allows our consultants to recommend practical, structural changes. You will be an essential part of a small team that values clear writing over long presentations.
What You Will Do
- Attend remote meetings with our financial partner to capture specific decisions, ownership assignments, and next steps.
- Translate raw notes into clean, plain-English summaries that can serve as the official record for the project.
- Identify recurring themes in client interviews and categorize them to help consultants spot patterns.
- Help map out internal workflows to show where responsibility currently becomes unclear or where work stalls.
- Maintain the project database to ensure all documents and research findings are easy for the team to access.
- Conduct basic research into industry standards to help provide context for our recommendations.
- Prepare brief reports that summarize project progress and highlight any missing information we need from the client.
- Verify the accuracy of data used in our reports by cross-referencing multiple internal sources.
What We Are Looking For
- Strong writing skills with a focus on being brief and clear. You should be able to explain a complex meeting in a few plain sentences.
- A high level of organization and a natural tendency to keep digital files and notes in order.
- The ability to listen carefully and pick out the most important details from a conversation.
- A calm and professional manner when interacting with team members and partners.
- Curiosity about how businesses work and a desire to learn about management structures.
- Self-discipline to manage your own schedule and tasks in a fully remote environment.
- A commitment to accuracy, especially when dealing with client names, dates, and specific project facts.
Helpful Background
- Basic familiarity with spreadsheets and shared document platforms like Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
- Previous experience in an office environment, a retail setting, or a university project where record-keeping was important.
- A background in subjects that require clear thinking and research, such as business, history, or communications.
- Experience coordinating schedules or managing a small project from start to finish.
- An interest in the financial sector or professional services.
What We Offer
This is a permanent, fully remote position that offers the chance to learn the consulting trade from the ground up. You will have a stable, predictable workload and the opportunity to work with a team that values your time and your contributions. The position is paid, and the compensation is competitive for an entry level research role in the current market. Because we are a remote firm, you will have the freedom to work from a location that suits you best, provided you can maintain a steady rhythm and stay connected with the team. We provide a supportive environment where you can ask questions and develop your professional skills through direct participation in client work.
About Olive Tree
Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems: they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company growth. We favor practical changes over large-scale transformation programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own. The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow-up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
