Business Process Architect – Advanced
Location - Santa Clara, California
Key Responsibilities and Required Expertise
1. Deep APG MES Platform & Architecture Expertise
• Strong understanding of the APG 300Works MES architecture and its core components.
• In-depth knowledge of:
o Server-side business rules
o Dispatching and RTD (Real-Time Dispatch)
o AMA rules engine
o Communication services and Pulsar messaging framework
• Ability to evaluate and influence the use of standard MES capabilities versus custom Lab MES extensions.
• Comprehensive understanding of MES concepts, including:
o Lot travelers
o Recipe management
o Dispatching logic
o Manufacturing execution workflows
2. MCS-MES Integration & Event-Driven Architecture Expertise
• Hands-on experience with MCS (Material Control System) and MES integration patterns.
• Strong understanding of:
o Host-to-equipment communication interfaces
o Stocker and conveyor integrations
o SECS/GEM and EDA communication protocols
o Event-driven architectures utilizing Pulsar messaging and carrier state updates
• Ability to design and define:
o MCS-triggered workflows
o Synchronization models between Lab MES, MCS, and WFM systems
o Integration strategies ensuring seamless material movement and process execution
3. Data Modeling & Material Tracking Integration
• Strong technical expertise in semiconductor manufacturing data models, including:
o Carrier (FOUP) management
o Lot tracking
o Slot-level material integrity
• Experience ensuring data consistency and synchronization across MES and external applications.
• Ability to define and govern:
o Data contracts
o Integration standards
o Synchronization guarantees for critical events such as carrier updates and material movements
• Focus on maintaining end-to-end material traceability and data accuracy.
4. APG Ecosystem & Cross-System Integration
• Strong understanding of MES integration within the broader APG ecosystem, including:
o AMA (Automation Management Architecture)
o RTD (Real-Time Dispatch)
o TME and other manufacturing applications
o External business and operational systems
• Experience orchestrating end-to-end manufacturing workflows across:
o Process operations
o Metrology systems
o Material handling and movement systems
• Ability to manage cross-system dependencies, exception handling, and integration failure scenarios.
5. Performance, Scalability & Reliability Engineering
• Technical ownership of MES integration performance and operational reliability.
• Expertise in defining and monitoring:
o Latency Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
o System throughput and scalability requirements
o API reliability and availability metrics
• Ability to establish robust integration frameworks incorporating:
o Error handling mechanisms
o Retry strategies
o Fallback and recovery procedures
• Experience defining production readiness criteria, including:
o Performance benchmarks
o Monitoring and observability standards
o Reliability and resilience requirements
o Operational support and maintenance processes
Preferred Qualifications
• Proven experience in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) within semiconductor manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of factory automation, material control systems, and equipment integration.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed messaging platforms.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work across multiple stakeholders and drive complex integration initiatives from design through production deployment.
