Tax Manager / Senior Manager / Director | Wilmington, DE
I’m partnering with a fast-growing, privately held wealth management and business advisory firm on a newly created senior tax leadership opportunity.
This is a great opportunity for a tax professional coming from a regional or local CPA firm who wants more ownership, more client interaction, and a bigger voice in how a tax practice operates without stepping into the hours and production expectations of a traditional large accounting firm.
The firm works with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and closely held businesses, providing integrated wealth management, tax, estate, and business planning services.
The tax practice has an established book of business and is growing quickly. Client demand has created a need for a senior tax leader who can step in and become the technical anchor of the practice — keeping work moving, reviewing returns, managing client relationships, and helping elevate the firm's tax strategy.
What you'll be doing:
- Review and finalize S-Corp, partnership, and individual tax returns
- Personally prepare more complex returns while reviewing work completed by other tax professionals
- Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services to HNW individuals and business owners
- Work directly with clients to understand their businesses, identify opportunities, and drive projects through completion
- Partner with the firm's wealth management/investment professionals on tax-efficient planning and investment strategies
- Establish greater visibility and organization across the tax workflow — what's in progress, what's outstanding, and what needs attention
- Take meaningful ownership of the tax function while remaining hands-on in the technical work
- Over time, have the opportunity to take on additional business development and leadership responsibilities
What we're looking for:
- Strong technical experience with S-Corp, partnership, and individual tax
- Experience working with small/mid-sized businesses and high-net-worth individuals
- Prior Manager, Senior Manager, Supervisor, Director, or equivalent review experience
- Background in a regional or local CPA firm is strongly preferred
- Someone who is equally comfortable with technical tax work and client relationships
- Leadership or tax department management experience is a plus
- Experience working alongside a wealth management/investment team is a plus
