Automotive Robotics Engineer (Remote, Full-Time)
Join Rex.zone to design, integrate, and validate production-grade automotive robotics systems for manufacturing automation and intelligent mobility programs. You will build ROS/ROS2 software, integrate sensors, and collaborate across controls/PLC and safety stakeholders in distributed teams.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain robotics software components using ROS/ROS2 for perception, planning, and control
- Implement and tune motion planning, trajectory generation, kinematics, and control behaviors for manipulators or AMRs
- Integrate perception pipelines (computer vision, LiDAR) including calibration and time synchronization
- Build localization/mapping workflows (SLAM) and sensor fusion for robust factory operation
- Create simulation-first validation using Gazebo and/or Isaac Sim to reduce integration risk
- Define and execute validation plans, regression testing, and performance metrics; analyze logs and bag files
- Partner with mechanical, electrical, QA/safety, and controls/PLC teams to ship reliable systems
- Document interfaces, diagnostics, fault handling, and commissioning-ready checklists
Required Qualifications
- Mid-Senior experience delivering robotics/automation systems in automotive, industrial, or adjacent domains
- Strong C++ and Python skills with version control and CI-friendly practices
- Hands-on ROS/ROS2 experience (nodes, topics, services, TF, launch, lifecycle)
- Knowledge of kinematics, trajectory planning, control loops, and sensor integration (camera/LiDAR/IMU)
- Ability to debug complex systems using logs, profilers, simulation and/or hardware-in-the-loop
- Comfort collaborating remotely across time zones with clear written communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Industrial robot integration, PLCs, and factory communication protocols
- Safety concepts (risk assessment, safe stop states, fault recovery) in industrial contexts
- Linux/edge deployment experience; OEM/Tier-1 processes and validation reporting
Compensation
Competitive hourly rate: $30–$50/hr (based on experience).
How To Apply
Apply via Rex.zone and highlight shipped robotics deliverables, ROS/ROS2 contributions, integration/validation practices, and measurable outcomes (uptime, throughput, cycle time, commissioning time).
Include links to code samples, technical write-ups, or simulation demos when available.
