Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)
The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) partners closely with customers to design, build, and deploy AI-powered applications, bridging business needs with production-ready technical solutions. This role combines hands-on software engineering, applied AI, and direct client engagement in fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to understand business and technical requirements
- Translate requirements into solution designs and implementation plans
- Develop and deploy production-grade applications (Python, JavaScript)
- Build and integrate LLM-based and Generative AI solutions (e.g., RAG, agents)
- Design AI workflows, evaluation frameworks, and deployment pipelines (MLOps/LLMOps)
- Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI into enterprise systems
- Identify risks and ensure scalable, reliable, and high-quality delivery
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering or technical delivery roles
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and/or JavaScript
- Experience building APIs, backend systems, and end-to-end applications
- Proven experience with LLMs, Generative AI, and RAG workflows
- Experience with cloud platforms and modern deployment practices (CI/CD, containers)
- Familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps and AI system lifecycle management
- Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Business-level Japanese proficiency
- Experience with enterprise systems and large-scale deployments
- Knowledge of data security and governance
- Experience in fast-paced or startup environments
- Strong English communication skills
