Position Summary
The Junior Business Automation Engineer supports the design, development, and maintenance of business automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance the flow of information across the organization.
Working under the guidance of the Business Automation Engineer and IT Manager, this role assists in identifying process improvement opportunities and developing solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot Studio, and related technologies. The Junior Business Automation Engineer participates in the full solution lifecycle, including development, testing, implementation, documentation, support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position is designed as an entry-level growth opportunity for individuals with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities who are interested in business process automation, low-code development, integrations, and AI-powered business solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the design, development, testing, and deployment of solutions using Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse.
- Support the development and maintenance of Copilot Studio agents that improve business processes, enhance user experiences, and provide AI-driven capabilities across the organization.
- Assist in evaluating business processes and workflows to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency improvements, and reduced manual effort.
- Participate in the implementation and support of integrations between business systems, applications, and data sources using APIs and other integration technologies.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance activities to ensure solutions function as intended and meet business requirements.
- Monitor deployed solutions and assist with issue resolution, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance activities.
- Create and maintain technical and functional documentation to support solution ownership, supportability, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with the Business Automation Engineer, IT team members, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts on automation and process improvement initiatives.
- Follow established security, governance, and development standards when implementing automation and AI-driven solutions.
- Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge related to business application development, automation technologies, system integrations, and AI-powered solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Technology, or a related field, preferred.
- Strong analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated interest in technology, business process improvement, automation, or application development.
- Familiarity with programming or scripting concepts and the ability to understand technical logic and workflows.
- Understanding of business processes and the ability to learn and apply technical solutions to operational challenges.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and receive coaching and mentorship.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications and business productivity technologies.
- Internship, coursework, academic projects, or personal projects related to automation, software, development, business systems, or data management, preferred.
- Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, or Dataverse, preferred.
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot Studio or other AI, chatbot, or automation platforms, preferred.
- Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, or data exchange concepts, preferred.
- Experience creating process maps, workflow diagrams, or technical documentation, preferred.
- Exposure to Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Forms, or other Microsoft 365 collaboration tools, preferred.
