We are looking for an Associate Engineer to work in iLab, supporting testing and validation of broadband devices and services.
The role will mainly perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for broadband devices such as Residential Gateways (RG), ONT/ONR and Wi-Fi devices. The Associate Engineer will work closely with Engineering, Operations and vendors to ensure new devices and firmware meet the required test criteria before deployment to customers.
The role will also support daily lab operations, troubleshooting, test automation and maintenance of lab systems.
Make an impact by:
Perform UAT for broadband devices and new firmware according to test plans and acceptance criteria.
Test broadband devices such as RG, ONT/ONR, Wi-Fi routers and mesh devices.
Perform basic functional, regression, performance, stability and security testing.
Support GPON/XGS-PON broadband testing and new project implementation in the lab.
Perform basic network testing using tools such as Wireshark, iPerf, ping and other network test tools.
Perform Wi-Fi testing such as speed, connectivity, coverage, stability and roaming.
Monitor firmware soak and stability tests and report any abnormal behaviour.
Reproduce reported faults in the lab and assist engineers and vendors with troubleshooting.
Collect device logs, packet captures and test results for problem investigation.
Record test results and report defects or issues found during UAT.
Retest firmware after fixes are provided by vendors or Engineering.
Support development and improvement of test cases and test procedures.
Support test automation and RPA activities to reduce repetitive manual testing.
Perform basic scripting or automation using Python or other scripting tools, where required.
Maintain lab equipment, test devices and test environments.
Perform basic maintenance of lab servers, including OS updates, security patches and SSL certificate renewal.
Maintain proper documentation of test results, firmware versions and lab configurations.
Work closely with Engineering, Operations and vendors on testing and troubleshooting activities.
Perform other technical or lab-related tasks assigned by the manager.
Skills for Success:
Diploma in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent from a recognised institution.
No experienced required.
Basic understanding of networking and TCP/IP.
Basic knowledge of IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, VLAN and Wi-Fi.
Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments.
Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, ping and iPerf would be an advantage.
Basic knowledge of GPON, broadband routers, ONT/ONR or Wi-Fi devices would be an advantage.
Familiarity with VMware and Docker would be an advantage.
Basic knowledge of Python or scripting would be an advantage.
Interest in test automation, RPA and networking technologies.
CCNA or ITIL 4 certification would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
