The Intelligence Operations Specialist (Mission Targeting Integrator) SME is a senior intelligence and targeting professional responsible for integrating intelligence, targeting, operational problem-framing, partner engagement, and technical mission analysis in support of national defense priorities.
Serving as an embedded advisor to mission teams and senior leaders, the SME translates strategic objectives into actionable intelligence and targeting requirements, develops mission-focused targeting frameworks, identifies operational opportunities and gaps, and coordinates across government, military, intelligence community, industry, and other mission partners.
The ideal candidate combines deep targeting and intelligence tradecraft with strong strategic judgment, technical fluency, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, decision-ready options for senior leaders and operational planners.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a senior intelligence and targeting advisor to mission teams, operational planners, technical experts, and government leadership.

Develop and refine targeting frameworks, methodologies, and decision-support products aligned to strategic and operational objectives.

Translate national-level priorities and mission objectives into actionable intelligence, targeting, collection, analytic, and technical requirements.

Integrate intelligence from multiple disciplines and sources to develop comprehensive assessments of targets, networks, capabilities, vulnerabilities, dependencies, and operational environments.

Conduct strategic and operational problem-framing to define mission challenges, identify intelligence gaps, establish assumptions, and develop viable courses of action.

Support target development, target system analysis, target prioritization, nomination, validation, assessment, and related targeting activities.

Coordinate across multiple organizations to align mission objectives and activities.

Operate effectively in dynamic, ambiguous, and time-sensitive environments where mission requirements may evolve rapidly.
Required Qualifications:
-
20+ years experience within the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, Combatant Commands, Joint Staff, Service components, special operations organizations, or other national security organizations.

Significant professional experience supporting intelligence, targeting, military operations, national security, or related mission environments.

Demonstrated expertise in targeting tradecraft, target development, target system analysis, intelligence integration, or operational planning.

Experience translating strategic or operational objectives into intelligence, targeting, collection, analytic, or mission requirements.

Experience supporting senior government, military, intelligence, or national security decision-makers.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing executive-level briefings and decision-support products.

Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and perform effectively in high-tempo mission environments.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Joint, DoD, or Intelligence Community targeting processes and methodologies.

Experience supporting Joint Targeting Cycle, F3EAD, D3A, target system analysis, network analysis, or comparable targeting frameworks.

Experience supporting operational design, campaign planning, mission analysis, or intelligence preparation of the operational environment.

Experience working with private-sector technology companies, research organizations, or non-traditional mission partners.

Experience facilitating cross-functional teams involving intelligence, operations, policy, acquisition, science and technology, or engineering stakeholders.

Familiarity with emerging national security technologies, data platforms, analytic tools, and technical mission capabilities.
Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, engineering, national security, international relations, public policy, economics, or a related field; equivalent commercial, government, military, or technical experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Clearance Requirements: Current TS/SCI clearance required.
The pay range for this position is $180,000/year to $230,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors.
