Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and actively engage a designated group of students throughout the after-school program.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants.
- Lead and facilitate age-appropriate activities including sports, games, arts and crafts, STEM, literacy, cooking, leadership, and enrichment clubs.
- Assist students with homework, academic support, and project-based learning activities.
- Build positive relationships with students and serve as a positive role model.
- Implement program activities according to the daily schedule and curriculum.
- Monitor student attendance, transitions, movement, and dismissal procedures.
- Maintain appropriate classroom and activity-area management.
- Reinforce program rules, expectations, and positive behavior strategies.
- Support students with social-emotional development and conflict resolution.
- Communicate effectively with the Program Director, Assistant Director, Supervisors, and other staff regarding student needs and program concerns.
- Assist with field trips, special events, workshops, and program-wide activities.
- Follow all safety, emergency, supervision, and mandated reporting procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.
- Keep activity areas clean, organized, and ready for student use.
- Complete required staff trainings and participate in staff meetings and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by program leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents preferred.
- Experience in an after-school, summer camp, education, recreation, youth development, or community-based program is a plus.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage a group of students while maintaining a positive and structured environment.
- Dependable, punctual, patient, energetic, and team-oriented.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other youth workers and program leadership.
- Must be willing to participate in required background checks, fingerprinting, and program-required clearances.
- Must complete all required trainings within designated timelines.
