Entry level AI jobs: which roles actually hire juniors

Which AI titles post entry level openings, why the no-experience AI jobs you see elsewhere are annotation work this site excludes, and what to search instead.

Counts are roles posted in the last 30 days that were still open on September 17, 2026.

Entry level AI jobs exist, but they are a thin slice of the market and they are not spread evenly across job titles. On September 17, 2026, AI Jobs Map listed 28,283 AI roles posted in the last 30 days. 2,174 of them were classified as entry level, which is 8% of the total. This guide shows where those openings sit, what the “AI jobs, no experience” results you see on other sites really are, and how to search so that your time goes to postings that can actually hire you.

A role is counted as entry level when the seniority of the posting is classified as entry from its title and description. That is the employer’s own framing, so treat it as a filter rather than a promise: some entry level postings still list two years of experience under requirements, and some senior-sounding titles are open to graduates.

Which entry level AI jobs are actually posted

The table below takes every job family on this site and shows how many of its roles were open, how many were classified as entry level, and what share that is. Titles whose entry level page has fewer than eight roles are left out, because the site does not publish a page that small.

Entry level roles by job title, sorted by the number of junior openings. Measured September 17, 2026.
Job titleAll rolesEntry levelShare
AI Engineer10,4749059%
Data Scientist8,7785446%
Machine Learning Engineer4,8294189%

Prompt Engineer1393424%
LLM Engineer2593313%
Deep Learning290279%
Responsible AI609193%
Applied Scientist1,063121%

Two things stand out. First, the junior market follows the overall market: AI Engineer, Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer had the most entry level openings on September 17, 2026, and together they held 86% of all entry level AI roles. If you want the largest number of doors, those are the titles to search. AI engineer roles building LLM-powered products, agents, retrieval systems and AI platform infrastructure. Data scientist roles across analytics, experimentation and applied machine learning.

Second, the share tells a different story from the count. Measured against each title’s own postings, the most junior-friendly titles on September 17, 2026 were Prompt Engineer (24%), LLM Engineer (13%) and Computer Vision (12%). The least junior-friendly were Applied Scientist (1%), Responsible AI (3%) and MLOps Engineer (5%). A high share on a small title means little in absolute terms, so read the two columns together.

What “AI jobs no experience” postings really are

Search for AI jobs with no experience, or AI jobs with no degree, and most of what comes back is not engineering work. It is data annotation, AI trainer, rater and labeler work: rating model outputs, transcribing audio, drawing boxes on images, writing sample conversations. Much of it is paid per task or per hour, much of it is short-term, and the listings appear and vanish in bulk.

AI Jobs Map excludes those postings by title. The catalog carries a short exclusion list that is applied to every page on the site: "ai trainer", "ai tutor", "data annotator", "annotation", "rater", "labeler", "ai training". A posting whose title contains any of those terms is dropped before it is counted.

The practical consequence is that a “no experience” search is the wrong search. The junior openings that lead somewhere are titled like the senior ones, with a marker such as “junior”, “associate”, “graduate” or “early career” attached. Those are what the entry level pages collect.

AI jobs with no degree

AI Jobs Map does not have a no-degree filter, and it is worth being clear about why. The index stores the posting text as the employer wrote it, and degree language is too varied to turn into a reliable yes or no: “Bachelor’s or equivalent experience”, “degree preferred” and “MSc required” all mention a degree and mean three different things. Turning that into a checkbox would mislead you more often than it helped.

What you can do is search the text. Free-text search over the whole index accepts phrases, so “equivalent experience” or “portfolio” combined with a role title narrows the list to postings that say so in their own words. Read the requirements section of each one; the posting is always the source of truth, and every listing here links straight to it.

Remote entry level AI jobs

Remote and entry level are two separate cuts on this site, and there is no combined page for the pair. On September 17, 2026 there were 3,456 remote AI roles and 2,174 entry level ones. The overlap is smaller than either number, and in the listings it is visible rather than counted: each card on an entry level page carries a Remote badge when the posting says the role is remote, so you can scan for it.

If remote matters more than seniority, start from the remote hubs instead and look for the junior markers in the titles. Remote AI engineer jobs, remote data scientist jobs and remote machine learning engineer jobs are the three largest remote pools, and the remote AI jobs guide ranks every title by its remote share.

Which AI roles hire the most juniors?
On September 17, 2026 the AI job titles with the most entry level openings were AI Engineer (905), Data Scientist (544) and Machine Learning Engineer (418), counting roles posted in the last 30 days.
Can I get an AI job with no experience?
Most postings that rank for "AI jobs no experience" are data annotation, AI trainer and rater work, which AI Jobs Map excludes from its index by title. Of the AI roles it did list on September 17, 2026, 8% were classified as entry level, so junior openings exist but you have to search by role rather than by "no experience".
