About the Role NeonLabs is collaborating with a leading AI lab to engage experienced educators across all areas of practice to join an innovative AI research project.
In this role, you’ll help build AI systems that reason about real educational work by translating everyday teaching, assessment, and instructional-design workflows, judgments, and decision-making into structured, high-quality training data.
This is a flexible contract for those passionate about education—from K-12 and higher-ed to special education and educational technology—eager to help shape how AI performs teaching and instructional tasks. Strong contributors also have the opportunity to advance into reviewer, lead, and domain-expert roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Design realistic educational scenarios and tasks drawn from your day-to-day work (e.g., lesson planning, grading against a rubric, differentiation, curriculum design, IEPs).
- Review and compare AI-generated educational outputs for accuracy, grade-level appropriateness, standards alignment (e.g., Common Core, NGSS), and sound pedagogical judgment.
- Create structured examples that reflect how educators actually reason through problems.
- Provide clear written feedback that improves product quality and AI performance.
- Collaborate asynchronously with the research team.
Ideal Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in education (K-12 or higher-ed teaching, curriculum/instructional design, assessment, special education, tutoring, or a related field).
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a subject-matter field (a state teaching license/certification, National Board Certification, or an advanced degree like an MEd/EdD/PhD is preferred, but not required).
- Comfortable with common classroom and instructional tools (e.g., Google Classroom, Canvas, an SIS such as PowerSchool).
- Strong written communication and attention to detail.
- U.S. residency required.
Compensation & Contract Terms
- Rate: $45 – $60 per hour (USD).
- Type: Independent Contractor.
- Payments: Weekly via Stripe or Wise.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, remote, and asynchronous.
- Contract Duration: Variable based on needs and performance (projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early).
