Senior Fullstack/AI Engineer

About the Role
As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you'll be an influential member of our product and engineering team — leading R&D investigations into candidate products and technologies, building new products from 0 to 1, and continuously enhancing and scaling our category-defining platform. You'll collaborate closely with fellow engineers, product managers, sales, and operations leaders to solve real business and customer-facing problems with a direct, highly visible impact on our products and the families that depend on them.
This is a hands-on engineering role on a small team of experienced engineers who care about the “why,” care about quality, and love to ship. A core focus of this role is bringing AI into real-world applications — integrating LLMs into products and workflows via APIs, not training models from scratch.
● C1 English is mandatory. You'll work daily with a US-based team. Resumes in Portuguese will NOT be reviewed.
What You'll Do
● Build and ship customer-facing products from 0 to 1, on a team with a strong bias for impact and getting things into the world
● Design and implement RESTful APIs, microservices, and automation workflows that put AI to work in production applications
● Integrate and evaluate LLMs and AI services via API for tasks like summarization, extraction, and classification — prompt engineering and RAG, little to no model training
● Develop backend systems and data pipelines for parsing, transformation, and orchestration
● Bring expertise and opinions to technology selection, systems design, and engineering standards — code quality, testing, and deployment
● Pair with, mentor, and inspire other developers through action
What We're Looking For
● 8+ years of professional software engineering building customer-facing software; startup experience preferred
● Strong hands-on experience with our stack: Node, TypeScript, React, AWS, plus Terraform and GitHub Actions
● Demonstrated AI integration experience: you've built applications that consume LLMs via APIs (e.g., OpenAI), and ideally have leveraged a RAG system to layer multiple information sources on top of a model to improve response quality
● Ability to lead the design and implementation of efficient APIs, data workflows, and cloud-native services
● Pragmatic technical judgment — you balance speed, accuracy, ROI, and risk, and can articulate the trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
● Exposure to leadership or mentorship, particularly on remote development teams
● Knowledge of modern DevOps and security practices; experience scaling applications with containers and orchestration frameworks
● BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
● Fluent English (C1 or higher) with experience working on English-speaking teams
Bonus Stuff
● Workflow automation with n8n, AI agents, or browser automation tools (Playwright, Selenium), CI/CD, Cucumber/SpecFlow
● Document processing at commercial scale — OCR, document libraries, data mapping, templating, RPA
● Experience automating eligibility checks, identity verification, or fraud detection
● Integrations with HRIS or payroll systems, legal research platforms, or identity verification services
● Technical expertise in distributed systems or developer platform initiatives
