Job Description
Atradius Trade Credit Insurance, Inc., is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal & Compliance Intern to join our team at our Hunt Valley, Maryland headquarters. This is a paid position with the option for potential hybrid flexibility after initial training and dependent upon business needs. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in insurance law, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, contract review, and risk management while working closely with experienced legal and compliance professionals.
Under the guidance of the General Counsel, Associate Counsel, and Compliance Officer, the Legal & Compliance Intern will support a variety of legal, regulatory, and compliance initiatives across the organization. The intern will work collaboratively with multiple business units and gain exposure to the regulatory framework governing the insurance industry in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Responsibilities
The Legal & Compliance Intern will:

Conduct legal and regulatory research related to insurance laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Review commercial agreements, including, but not limited to service contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and related legal documents.

Assist with the preparation and submission of filings and correspondence to regulatory authorities.

Collaborate with Finance, Underwriting, Claims, Compliance, and Information Technology teams to gather information required for regulatory reporting and compliance initiatives.

Support corporate governance activities, including the preparation of board resolutions, meeting materials, and meeting minutes.

Assist with litigation management and coordination with external counsel.

Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal compliance policies, procedures, and controls.

Assist with regulatory examinations, audits, and other compliance-related projects.

Support special projects and other legal and compliance initiatives as assigned.
What qualification should you have? The ideal candidate will have the following profile:

Currently enrolled in an accredited Juris Doctor (J.D.) program and in good academic standing.

Strong interest in insurance law, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, risk management, or related legal fields.

Demonstrated legal research, analytical, and writing skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive legal and business information.
