Cast Iron Insurance is hiring a Personal Lines Insurance Agent to help grow our personal insurance business from our South Florence office near Union, Kentucky.
This is not a call-center position or a purely administrative service role. We are looking for someone who can build relationships, understand what matters to a customer, explain coverage clearly and confidently ask for the business.
The person we hire will work with new prospects and existing clients while also developing new referral relationships in the community. You will quote personal insurance, present recommendations, follow up consistently, identify coverage gaps and help develop long-term client relationships. As your experience and capabilities grow, opportunities may expand into life insurance and small commercial accounts.
What You’ll Do
- Respond promptly to new leads and referrals
- Conduct conversations to understand each prospect’s needs
- Quote auto, home, renters, umbrella and related personal insurance
- Compare available options and explain recommendations clearly
- Present proposals by telephone, email, video and in person
- Follow up consistently and professionally
- Ask for the business and guide customers through the application process
- Identify appropriate cross-selling opportunities
- Help retain and strengthen existing client relationships
- Develop referral relationships with real estate agents, mortgage lenders, financial professionals and other community partners
- Attend networking events and represent Cast Iron Insurance in the local business community
- Maintain consistent contact with referral partners and turn those relationships into measurable opportunities
- Generate personal-lines opportunities through both agency-provided leads and personal business-development efforts
- Maintain accurate notes, tasks and opportunity records
- Coordinate with service staff and insurance carriers
- Continue developing your insurance knowledge and sales skills
What We’re Looking For
- Confidence initiating conversations and asking for the sale
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Consistent follow-through and personal accountability
- Comfort communicating by telephone, email, video and in person
- Willingness to prospect, network and develop referral relationships rather than relying entirely on incoming leads
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships in the community
- Ability to learn insurance products, coverage details and carrier systems
- Organized work habits and attention to detail
- Resilience when prospects decline, delay or stop responding
- Willingness to receive coaching and improve
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision
- A genuine interest in helping people make informed insurance decisions
Insurance experience is preferred but is not the only path into this position. We will consider candidates with successful backgrounds in consultative sales, banking, real estate, mortgage lending, automotive sales, customer relationship management or other positions requiring trust, follow-up, networking and accountability.
Licensing
An active Kentucky Property and Casualty insurance license is preferred. A strong unlicensed candidate may be considered if willing and able to complete licensing requirements within an agreed timeframe.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of approximately $48,000–$50,000, depending on licensing, experience and qualifications
- Commission on qualifying new business
- Performance incentives tied to growth, retention and profitability
- Expected first-year total compensation of approximately $50,000–$70,000
- Paid time off
- Reasonable schedule flexibility
- Paid training and professional development
- Opportunity for greater income and responsibility as the personal-lines book grows
