About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant on the Global Intercompany Team to be part of a team that is critical to the company's month-end close process and SOX compliance. In this exciting role, you will support the intercompany accounting operations for assigned regions and work cross-functionally with Finance Engineering and other teams to enhance Uber's internal systems and processes.

We are looking for this individual to act as a cross-functional business partner in the on-shoring and structuring of new legal entities and to support strategic initiatives such as M&A integrations, including the establishment and ongoing support of intercompany operations resulting from those integrations, as well as IP restructurings and tax initiatives.

This role requires an individual with strong knowledge of intercompany accounting and multi-entity structures, as well as a curious and analytical mindset. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, enjoys digging into complex topics, asks the right questions, and is resourceful in finding answers rather than waiting for direction. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating ambiguity, investigating issues independently, and proactively identifying solutions and opportunities for improvement.

The ideal candidate will also embrace AI as part of their day-to-day work, continuously exploring how AI and emerging technologies can automate repetitive activities, improve analysis, and create more efficient and scalable accounting processes.

If a fast-moving, constantly evolving environment excites you, this could be an excellent opportunity for you!

What the Candidate Will Do

- Own and support key intercompany accounting operations for assigned regions, serving as a primary point of contact for intercompany matters and ensuring accurate and timely execution of related accounting activities.

- Actively participate in the monthly close process, including preparation of reports, flux analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.

- Prepare and review intercompany journal entries in accordance with transfer pricing regulations to ensure a timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.

- Perform FX analysis and clearing for various intercompany transactions, settlements, payments, and collections on behalf.

- Be responsible for global monthly intercompany balances across 250+ entities, including the netting process, tripartite settlements for intercompany loans, and follow-up on related queries.

- Investigate and resolve elimination issues and review automated intercompany entries coming from various systems to ensure a smooth consolidation process.

- Set up complex transfer pricing calculations in iCAN (Intercompany Accounting and Netting, our in-house tool).

- Support M&A integrations from an intercompany accounting perspective and help establish and support the resulting intercompany operations, including new entities, intercompany relationships, accounting flows, and related activities.

- Participate in strategic accounting projects and initiatives, including IP restructurings, tax initiatives, new revenue standards, and support for new product launches.

- Coordinate the review of intercompany agreements with Regional Tax, Legal, and Compliance teams and maintain intercompany relationships in the global intercompany system.

- Act as a business partner with the Tax Team on on-shoring entities and changes in tax structures, supporting the implementation of changes relevant to intercompany accounting operations.

- Actively explore and adopt AI-enabled solutions as part of day-to-day activities, identifying opportunities to automate manual processes, enhance analysis, and improve the efficiency and scalability of intercompany accounting operations.

- Proactively investigate complex or unfamiliar intercompany matters, leveraging available data, systems, documentation, and cross-functional resources to understand root causes and recommend solutions.

- Support process improvement initiatives and system implementations, providing intercompany accounting expertise and assisting with the testing and implementation of process and system enhancements.

- Perform and maintain assigned internal controls and support critical ad-hoc analysis and projects as needed.

- Collaborate with key cross-functional partners, including Finance, Engineering, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Internal Audit, and other teams on a variety of initiatives.

- Manage outsourced GBS/accounting support teams where needed.

What the Candidate Will Need

- 6+ years of relevant accounting experience, with knowledge of intercompany accounting, transfer pricing, consolidation, and accounting in a multi-entity environment.

- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting concepts and US GAAP, including foreign currency (FX), intercompany eliminations, and financial reporting requirements in an international environment.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex accounting matters, identify root causes, and independently develop potential solutions.

- A curious and proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, prioritize competing responsibilities, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong communication and business partnering skills, with the ability to clearly communicate accounting matters, risks, issues, and status updates to both accounting and cross-functional stakeholders.

- Strong attention to detail and proficiency with data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL or other data analysis tools is a plus.

- Interest in leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve day-to-day accounting activities, analysis, and operational efficiency.

Bonus Points

- Experience with Oracle ERP environments and intercompany accounting systems; experience with Oracle Fusion is a plus.

- Experience with FCCS (Financial Consolidation and Close) or similar financial consolidation platforms.

- Experience supporting ERP implementations, system migrations, testing, or finance transformation initiatives.

- Experience working with global intercompany operations, transfer pricing models, or complex legal entity structures.

Experience supporting M&A integrations, entity restructurings, or tax-driven initiatives from an accounting perspective
