The Company operates in a dynamic and highly regulated environment that is subject to evolving market rules, tariff requirements, regulatory developments, and market conduct expectations across multiple jurisdictions and organized markets.

Under the general supervision of the Senior Market Compliance Analyst (Natural Gas, LNG, and Dry Bulk), this role supports the monitoring of external market developments and the surveillance of internal transactions and communications to help ensure compliance with applicable market rules and regulations. The position contributes to compliance oversight, surveillance activities, regulatory analysis, and advisory support for the Company's commodity trading and commercial operations.

Working closely with Trading, Commercial, Risk, Operations, Legal, senior management, Market Analysts, and Data Analysts, the incumbent provides practical guidance on market rules, regulatory requirements, and compliance risks that impact day-to-day business activities. The role also supports regulatory change management, market rule interpretation, compliance program development, investigations, training initiatives, governance activities, and regulatory readiness efforts.

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently assess complex trading activities, evaluate regulatory developments, identify compliance risks, and communicate practical, risk-based recommendations to business stakeholders.

Activités

- Independently monitor physical and financial natural gas, LNG, and related commodity transactions to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, market rules, and exchange requirements.

Conduct daily surveillance of trading activity, position limits, accountability levels, benchmark pricing periods, bid week trading, and market fundamentals to identify potential compliance risks.

Monitor and analyze market, pipeline, storage, LNG, transportation, scheduling, and operational data, as well as OTC and exchange-traded transactions, including swaps, options, ISDA, brokered, and structured transactions.

Review trading communications, surveillance alerts, and escalated compliance matters; conduct investigations and recommend appropriate risk-based actions.

Partner with Front Office personnel to review, investigate, and document trading strategies and activities, while providing ongoing compliance guidance and risk assessments.

Develop, maintain, and enhance surveillance models, dashboards, and reporting tools using Power BI and other analytical platforms to support monitoring and risk detection.

Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into quantitative surveillance scenarios and analytical controls designed to detect potentially non-compliant trading behavior.

Design, test, implement, and refine surveillance reports and detection scenarios to identify anomalous trading patterns, deviations from historical behavior, and potential market manipulation indicators.

Support new product and business activity reviews by assessing compliance risks and performing testing from a market compliance perspective.

Collaborate with Trading, Risk, Operations, Legal, Operational Compliance, and other control functions to ensure adherence to regulatory and internal compliance requirements.

Prepare and provide data, analyses, and documentation for internal reporting, audits, regulatory filings, inquiries, and investigations.

Maintain market rules, enforcement action, and regulatory knowledge bases for Natural Gas and LNG markets; publish periodic compliance alerts and regulatory updates for business stakeholders.

Regularly report on emerging compliance risks, regulatory developments, and surveillance findings to management and relevant stakeholders.

Profil du candidat

- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline. An advanced degree is preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience within an energy trading organization, including at least two (2) years in Market Compliance, Trading Compliance, Market Surveillance, Trading Surveillance, or a related function.

Strong understanding of physical and financial trading activities across Natural Gas, LNG, and Dry Bulk markets, including associated transportation, storage, and trading practices.

In-depth knowledge of applicable market and regulatory requirements, including FERC, CFTC, ICE, and CME rules governing natural gas and LNG trading activities.

Demonstrated experience interacting with regulatory and enforcement bodies, including the FERC Office of Enforcement and the CFTC Division of Enforcement.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex compliance and regulatory issues to diverse stakeholders.

Proven ability to analyze large and complex datasets, identify unusual trading patterns, and assess potential market conduct risks.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic trading environment.

Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Hands-on experience with data analytics and reporting tools, including SQL, Python, Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, Excel VBA, and/or Spotfire.

Experience working with electronic trading and surveillance technologies, including FIX/FIXML messaging, drop copy feeds, REST APIs, and market surveillance platforms such as SMARTS, CubeWatch, Behavox, Whistler, Steeleye, or similar solutions.
