What to Expect

Tesla is seeking an Operational Excellence & Process lead for Robotaxi Upkeep field operations in Austin. Upkeep is the operation that returns vehicles to the network clean, stocked, inspected, and ready for service.

You will be accountable for how that operation runs at the hubs: operating standards, quality, overnight shop performance, field tools, consumable readiness, and the playbooks used as new sites come online. The focus is quality and throughput: translating program targets into what needs to happen on the shop floor to meet them. The role requires regular time on site, including overnight.

What You'll Do

-
Establish and maintain standards for vehicle cleanliness, presentation, and autonomy-critical upkeep, written so they can be executed at a new site without a dedicated handoff from Austin

-
Build and run the quality system across sites, including the definition of good, site-level tracking, and the response when a location is off-standard

-
Translate program targets into shop-floor plans for flow and throughput. Provide field teams the system tools and metrics to manage nightly shop performance against those plans, including pace, completion rate, incomplete upkeep, and gap reporting. When work is missed, identify and close the process failure

-
Serve as product owner for Upkeep field software. Specify what the shop requires, drive adoption, and retire unused capability

-
Onboard field leaders to Fleet Support and Upkeep, covering responsibilities, standards, and overnight operating rhythm

-
Ensure consumable and inventory readiness, including washer fluid and cleaning supplies, so vehicles are not delayed for lack of material

-
Establish third-party coverage (car wash, detail, and biohazard) and prepare new markets for operation

-
Lead field rollout of new Upkeep procedures, including training, supply readiness, first-site validation, and expansion across the network

-
Maintain operational reporting that field leaders can use to run the night, with incomplete work visible within the same shift

What You'll Bring

-
3+ years of process ownership in a high-volume operation with a strict quality standard. Manufacturing, fleet management, service, fulfillment, food production, and airline operations are all relevant backgrounds

-
Experience writing and implementing operating standards and quality control in a live operation

-
Comfort working on a shop floor, including overnight operations. Regular time at the hubs is part of the job

-
Experience as the operational owner of a shop-floor system including requirements, adoption, and simplification of the toolset

-
Clear written communication. Field teams will work from the playbooks and checklists this person produces

-
Experience taking a working process from one site to additional sites
