Nomad Distribution is looking for a chef, former chef or experienced food/hospitality professional ready to move into a broader commercial role.
The position has a clear structure: three days in the field, one day in the office and one day working with our warehouse and operations team.
Your main focus will be developing existing foodservice and selected retail accounts, while building new business across Sydney. You will work directly with chefs, owners, managers and buyers - understanding their businesses, introducing relevant products, conducting tastings and identifying opportunities to grow accounts.
The role
· Manage and develop existing foodservice and retail customers
· Identify and open new accounts
· Conduct regular face-to-face visits, tastings and product presentations
· Work with chefs on product selection, applications and menu opportunities
· Follow up sales opportunities and maintain accurate CRM records
· Monitor customer activity and identify opportunities for growth
· Learn the import process, including product and shipping documentation, stock arrivals and availability
· Work with the warehouse team to understand receiving, storage, stock rotation, picking and dispatch
· Provide useful feedback on customers, competitors and market activity
Who we're looking for
You understand food and the hospitality industry and are comfortable dealing with chefs, owners and buyers.
Previous sales experience is an advantage, but food knowledge, communication skills, organisation and the ability to build strong customer relationships are equally important.
You will need to work independently in the field, follow opportunities through and be willing to learn the operational and commercial sides of the business.
A current driver's licence and regular travel throughout Sydney are required.
As your product knowledge and commercial experience develop, there is scope to take greater responsibility across key accounts, territory development, new products and supplier projects.
We're looking for someone who knows food, understands customers and wants to become an important part of the business.
Pay: $60,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
